My first music video

I can see that a lot of work went into that.
That singer presents well... (read 'YUM').

I found thouse transitions where the frame is cut into sections frustrating. They actually reminded me of those dodgy frames you sometimes get at the end of a clip.

Yeah, I'd second what Pastor Thugs said. Those blocks cutting in and out was really distracting. Your low light shot had a lot of noise in it too. That's a problem I've been having with my XH-A1 too. I can tell you put a lot of effort into that editing.

Nice peice, but if you can some how revisit those block cuts It would make it even better imo. Those cuts had ne thinking that something was off with viemo.

well done. maybe it's just my personal preference but the transitions upsetted the pacing of the rest of the music video for me.

Some nice shots in there for sure. Those cross cuts are not working here. The timing isnt right and its just distracting. Need to look for something else, maybe stitch frames etc. Try to let the edit be led by timing of the music, will flow much more evenly. Notices a couple of small sync issues.

I think this would work better if you used your color changes on segments, as in exterior to the stage stuff, rather than such a whopping change near the start where we see the band and cross to those swing shots. Again, let it progress through. Just IMO.

Thanks for all the feedback - I really wanted to try something different than straight cuts throughout, which is a hairy undertaking for sure. I guess the general consensus is the block cuts don't work (they were done with "Pete's Plugins" for AE).

Noel, I am not familiar with the term stitch frames, enlighten me? Also, the massive color change was to represent flashbacks, would there have been a better way to do this?

Dear dcal,

I really liked the video and block cuts and everything. I even think the low light noise ended up being smoky and effective even if unintended--even though, damn, that should not happen.

Sorry for the length of time to rply. just saw your question. You can cut from the last frame of one cut to the first frame of the next by cutting the frames together in photoshop. Works well with a blur in between the two images, so you ended up with essentially three frames cut together and key frame their position in your timeline so it looks like a very fast pan from one scene to the next. It was just a thought.
