My first music video shot with the 7D - 1300 views in 3 days!

So the key was so bad that your director/producer/whatever just made it B&W? Was this VFX-centric project undertaken with no knowledge of said VFX whatsoever? It looks like the drummer was supposed to have his drums added in post.

That said I think y'all gave up on it too soon. With the right keying software the greenscreen could be salvaged, even from the B&W it wouldn't be too hard to throw on a star field and some other spacey elements. Man, you could at least blow it up a little bit to hide the stands on the side.

Now THAT'S feedback.

Also you can do a quick luma key on that B/W with a small tiny amout of roto for the arms, and youd have your seperation.

I thought about that too but you'd probably end up keying the faces in the process. It might look cool regardless.

EDIT: Just realized you would likely include faces in the roto in that scenario. I don't do much rotoscoping myself. But since the footage is originally greenscreen that's a theoretical discussion anyway--with a rudimentary key, some funky color correction like some pieces of the video already has (that would halfway hide your bad edges) and a garbage matte for those wides you'd be in business. I only harp because the title of the thing is "Shottas in Space" and they say "in space" in the song and then we go to this B&W deal. But it'd be so easy to throw in some backgrounds and stuff.

I was just the cam op. I wish the director and editor did not rush the process. If it was my project I would not have given up or rushed the editing process. Thanks guys!

Id love to do a music video for these artists, they look so cool would be such a laugh and could do something so retro and funky

Yeah, I'd knock this one out of the park for sure. Lots of room for creativity.

EDIT - I do got an ego.

Hey David. Here's my advice. FORGET EVERYTHING THAT PEOPLE TELL YOU ABOUT THE VIDEO! This video rocks! and I'm going to tell you why... You naturally achieved a look that people pay thousands of dollars to achieve. That grunge, quasi punk reggae feel. Any lay person, not in the business looking at this video couldn't give a rats a@@ about all of the technical errors. They will just flip it on, dig a cool group, a cool song and a cool video.

Leaving props on the set, green screen errors. Genius in art is 85% by mistake. Keep on filming, having fun and let everybody else try to figure out the secret! IMHO.
