I took that original picture of the door and in photoshop cut out the door and replaced it with a black background behind the door. Then i pulled both the layer with just the door and the rest of the alley into aftereffects. I made the door layer 3d and animated it a bit to make it swing.

Wondertouch, Particle Illusion is a stand alone program for windows.

Overall, this was really cool for just messing around. Yea, the door swing and the rain need a bit more work. The door closes too quickly to fool the eye, and the rain is too perfectly symmetrical and is falling outside the frame. But again ... cool overall. Great work.

Falling outside the frame i actually did on purpose. I kinda had that sin city look in mind and I thought having only a square frame of video with the rain outside kinda gave it that comic book square feel. But yes I shoulda paid attention to the door. When i was just moving my slider on AE the motion looked great. But once it was rendered it was too fast, oh well, next time i'll know.

I just went to a hobby store and picked up some cheap brilliant green cloth they had. Tacked it up on my wall and that was it. Some lighting would do wonders. I had trouble with deffinition around the edges, putting it in a dark setup helped hide all my errors. With no lighting theres no way you could do anything where you needed bright settings and very visible edges. But for just messing around this works fine.
