C500: My final (two) word(s) on cameras

What was that shot on? Hacked GH2's I've read. I think virtually ALL cameras are now good enough to make a successful film- that's not the limiting factor. hasn't been for some time. As a producer you have to be willing to step in that direction.

Amira- I think that's exactly the camera we've wanted and needed- last year. In fact I should still be on Abel's buy list, though I'm now too broke to buy it. I think Arri will sell out and the Amira will be a standard for several years. Used Alexa Classics are also coming down in price. That said, we still can't buy an Amira, and I've been told and it's been reported that the first several hundred are already spoken for- to the major TV studios and production houses.

If the producer has money they almost always go for Alexa. Multiple Alexas. I'm happy to shoot on Alexa. last year I wanted to buy an Alexa, but not anymore- future format requirements are too uncertain for me to sink that much money into a camera body. When they don't have the money that's when I'm hoping my twin C500 rigs will come into play- this year and maybe next year. Hope to shoot the crap out of them.

Okay, that was more than two words.

Agreed. I'll make my $ with C500 until Amira is available. Then, it will make me money for two+ years. (no stupid external recorders required!)
