Just taking advantage of a bit of vacation time over here in the UK and thought I'd post some pics of a modified Bluestar Oval Long Eyecushion (http://www.proav.co.uk/Bluestar-Oval-Long-Eyecushion/p29763.aspx) that I cobbled together a few days back.

The dealer from which I bought the cam, Proactive, are talking with Canon UK about an official solution and I'll update if they come up with anything. But, in the meantime, with a pair of scissors, some superglue and a spare 5 minutes, the Bluestar fitted the C100 pretty darn perfectly.

1) Cut the elongated end:

2) Fold over and glue.

3) Cut the other end and do the same:

4) The chamois should now sit proud like so:

5) Bob's your uncle:

You could add a thread stitch at each junction for longevity, but the glue seems to hold well on this foam material.

There's absolutely no light leak now - just a big distracting red blob on the back of the camera, but Bluestar do them in "natural" and grey finish too.

Now... back to my vacation...

Ben.

For UK/Europeon People....I am a Tottenham fan...I hate anything red (bar red rings on Canon L Lenses)

The Hoodman solution looks best to me although I don't doubt that this works perfect for you too.

Thanks Silyn, I've got one of those from a Zacuto EVF Pro - but it kept falling off. How are you keeping yours on?

Ben.

Same here, ordered it hoping it would snug tight over the EVF, but especially when you have to open/close the LCD a lot (which you basically have to do everytime you use the EVF, or loose the "magnify" option...)
So, Gaffa Tape?

I have a question

when you tear that cushion off the evf. is the glue gonna hurt my original eye cup?

Not if you let it set first - I've had it on and off a couple of times to make adjustments.

It's just a snug fit - nothing else holding it on.

Ben.

Thanks Ben, I was looking for the Blue Star Ultra extra small as a few members of DVinfo had used these... but you cant find that size here in the UK.. this looks like a great solution. Cheers!!

Trying to get the best of both solution:

Zacuto + Bluestar + Superglue

Thanks to dustylenses photo I realised I had to push the eyecup further over the EVF to give it a tight fit.
Downside: The handle doesn´t attach anymore. I might have to cut a small piece out of the eyecup for this...

That looks like a really nice solution Spartacus... The C100 is so ergonomic that using the viewfinder ( which incidentally has received far too much negative press) gives us the all important three points of contact, negating any need for rigs. This added to its ridiculously tiny footprint makes its an amazing piece of kit...

I will purchase a blue star eye piece ASAP :)

Bluestar makes one dedicated to the c100 now. It's called "Bluestar Camera Eyecushion Oval Large #6012". It's at lot like the Oval Long Eyecushion, mentioned above, but the dimension should fit without having to cut it. I'm trying to order one now. Check out their product selector chart here:

I cant find this model for sale yet. When you get a link please share. I'm wondering if this Is a new model or they just add the C100 to the list that will work with current versions.

The Bluestar Large Oval works on the Zacuto eyecup, it does not fit the C100 directly. The Extra Small Round (edited) does work directly on the eyepiece and has a smaller footprint and I like it better without the Zacuto cup. Also you dont have to glue the Bluestar to the Zacuto cup, it just fits over the outside.

I use the Bluestar Extra Small Round (#20102) directly on the eyepiece and it works perfectly for me. It's low profile and the soft cushion blocks out extraneous light to make the viewfinder usable. It fits rather well, not too tight but it's never fallen off on me yet. The price is right so I carry an extra one just in case.

I also have the Zacuto Z-finder and use it most times but I use the built-in eyepiece when I shoot handheld and need to be as compact as possible.
