My exposure reads 00? and is locked

Hey i need help. My camera is set to M and i am trying to change the exposure. Yesterday, i had no problems with changing exposures on the camera etc. But now, it won't budge. And it reads 00 when i hit INFO regarding the exposure. What am I doing wrong? How do i fix this? I am going through the manual and i can't find the answers? very frustating?:Drogar-Mad(DBG):
 
It generally says that when the lens isn't on the camera. try taking the lens off and re putting it back on. If that doesn't do anything try another lens. if that doesn't work try cleaning the contacts for the lens on the camera. if that doesn't work pull the battery for a minute or two.
 
Yeah, I tried several lenses. The newer ones (that have the sensors on the bottom) have no problem reading the lens (f/4 f/5.6 etc.) - it is the OLDER lenses (that don't have the sensors that you line up at the bottom) that will give me an fstop reading of 00. I know when i rented this (before buying) i didn't have this issue. Is there something i need to disable on the menu?
 
Oh wait, I'm an idiot. For those older lenses i need to change the f-stops on the actual lens. This is what happens when you have been shooting with a video camera for 10 years. :)
