My design for a DSLR - video cam hybrid

2 things it lacks, but this is fromm a video journs pov. some sort of xlr adapter and a shoe mount on top. this could be a killer setup with a couple more additions.

Ah, composite out. Ok, that explains a lot. Probably good for framing, but not so great for focusing then.

Maybe... maybe not. Broadcast EVFs usually have a peaking control built-in.

Proper peaking is usually much more effective for judging focus than throwing more pixels at the viewfinder.

I want to adapt a Sony Betcam viewfinder to my Canon 7D.
These guys have apparently done it (as have some others...)
Does anyone out there have instructions on the mod....
Canon hdmi out to Viewfinder video in.... need pin diagrams for sony 20 pin connector...
Are there video breakout boxes on the market that might do this?

If you want a video camera, buy a VIDEO camera! I find it funny that the original idea of a small form-factor, DSLR that shoots great video is now becoming a bigger rig than just buying a video camera. Give it another 6 months and I'm sure you'll have your wish!

Video viewfinder to Canon 7D

Video viewfinder to Canon 7D

I am interested in collaborating online with anyone who wants to adapt a decen video viewfinder to the Canon 7D for doc work.... focus and rolling shutter being the two big issues with this camera.
I have 2 sony Betacam viewfinders... and early 4:3 from a BVP-7 and one from a DXC- D30 WS.... ideas on how to make them work, connectors, cables, breakout boxes, 12V power supplies....?

MAtthew,
brilliant work on your The Terminal film. good luck.
