My day with the AF100...

its just the gamma shift from the mov file. There is very little noise if you import that footage into your nle. I did and the difference is night and day. Try it and you will be exceptionally pleased with the results.

I have not denigrated testers, as you say. I have offered opposition to people who are name-calling those who dissent from the opinion that there's no evidence whatsoever of an issue which warrants further investigation.

Fair enough, but I think, and this is my opinion, that people question with bias. When you inquire, you qualify your comments with a comparison to another camera that is completely in a different class. It taints your points. After dozens upon dozens of comments of this nature, anyone can understand the frustration that is sure to accompany yet another comment with the same overtones. Fair, no?

Anyway, on to better things...

I'm comparing it to 7 other clips from various other Af100 tests, and one clip from a Sony F3 test. So no, I am not comparing it to a camera in another class. I am using all those tests as a "control" variable, against which to compare the footage for all types of character, including noise.. Some of those other tests had grading, though noise reduction was never specifically mentioned in those that did, and some did not have any grading at all. The Sony F3 footage is available in pre-graded form, and I did not see an abundance of noise (as one would expect of a camera in its price range), so as a control, this, plus the other Af100 footage removes display calibration as a cause. Again, I am not claiming that the camera design or quality is at issue. It could be that specific test camera, it could be settings, more noise due to different color temp than the other daylight test footage. I just don't know, but I want to find out.

Fair enough, I reluctantly acquiesce because there is no convincing you that it's not what you are asking but the way you are asking it that presents some issue and causes the aforementioned backlash. If you would like to continue the debate, PM me, but this is a quickly devolving thread which has completely strayed away from "My day..."

Well the F3 looks really really awesome but it's some 2.5 times the price as well. I plan on having acess to two 100s so that's something I couldn't afford with the sony...

We are all excited and a bit punchy so it's time for a Guiness and clearing off the credit card. Would be really awesome though if all this bickering caused Panasonic to drop the price like Sony did.. If that's so, I'll be the first to start a ***** fest....

One things for sure it's very good to be on a site that allows free expressions and opinions without censorship as long as it's civil. I can be quick to get flamed up like anyone but all in all we have to agree that prior to the internet and forums so much of our voices would have echoed into the wilderness.... I also for one don't ever envy those bygone days of lugging a betacam around. What a PITA that was and I believe my chiropractor has a new addition just from those few years of cracking...

Please stop beating that poor dead horse...and practicing armchair psychiatry...etc, etc. 7 other clips, this internet clip, that clip. Sorry for sounding glib (no disrespect). Unless you have the original footage, the point is moot. It is very simple. If you don't understand, you should stop and think, and consider WHY you don't understand the issue. You raised a point (numerous times), wait till the camera comes out and see for yourself!

Who are you addressing? If you wish to make a personal comment, do so via PM if you want to keep the horse dead.
