my big capture and EDit solution for RED

The revolution has just begun. The red team needs to build an external monitor/ pc cpu capturing device that can be mounted on one of by a new cage design that would look like a steady cam rig. it should be revolutionary giving you extreme portabilty, rugged use, and independence in playing back your dailies in the most remote corner of the world. being that i am from Africa i would like to see a tablet PC type device like a small imac, where the screen and the ingest are fused but also seperable and expandable. it should have ultra fast drives to capture 4k material at up to 2tb. it should preferably be a apple mac with dual duo-intel chips to allow for both PC & MAC userS parties to CAPTURE and edit. you could use hd rack to caliberate monitor and capture your footage AND EDIT WITH AVID OR ADOBE whilst on the mac side FCP OR AVID OR MEDIA 100. powerful potable solutions out there that cost a fortune. but oakley and apple being two design firms will surely come up with a radical solutions that can benefit, the previz guys, sound recordist, camera team, director and even editors on the set. a solution like this for guerilla filmmakers will make red a real winner. i am know computer or engineering genius but the technology is already out there. power comsumption for those would be from battery jackets as worn by eng guys. i meam with onboard hard drives the RED team must already have some sort of solution.

hey skip the typos, its early here is southern california. oh yeah oakley i live down the block.

MEDIA 100.

thats a name i havent heard in over a year...their still around?
Last I heard they had (finally) a cool system, but it was all proprietary build.
(anyway, this is red forum, so I will leave it at that.)

Im sure red will keep their options open as they said for editing on as many platforms as will work with them. Final Cut seems obvious, but so does Avid and anyone else like discreet, etc. (wonder when discreet will lower their product to 1k like apple...heheh)

DALEN7, yep I would love to see the re-invention of edit*, remember a decade ago when I was in college it was D-Vision running on matrox cards. It was certainly competition for Avid. ---Off topic. last weekend at a mountain dew show for Spike TV all the ENG guys were still shooting on beta-sp (not digi beta) and a couple of dvcams, no DVX or XL2. they had plasma screens everywhere on set, the footage was pretty good. honestly I thought I was living in the stone age. I was the AC of the only SR3 on the show, we shot a short skit for the show. being a traditional film guy I am not around too many of these ENG folk with thier million camera shoots. I thought SD, DV, HD had taken over everything. one of the crew members finally explained that different budgets and post pipelines demanded different technologies and basically most of the crew members (All UNION) owned more advanced cameras HD< digibeta varicams etc. I told them about this site and RED you might have some new members soon. As talkative as they were technology was the last thing on thier minds. they did not beleive red could exist but most were on thier way to NAB, imagine the suprise. we are the fortunate ones
