Supposed to get my AF end month..now im worried, there has to be a solution.....Jan?barry?anyone?
For the moment I am the only one who is having problems and perhaps I will remain the only one. I have received the camera on december 27th and until yesterday it was fine. Anyway I hope someone in Osaka reads this forum and start to consider that, perhaps, there is a bug somewhere in the color balance software and that a reset function could be useful
I've thought the same thing but after I have considered that daylight preset is OK: if it was an hardware component problem it should be affected also, isn't it? The second thing is that, after permorfing white/black balance (with lumix 20mm lens attached) I have seen clearly to monitor turning yellowish immediately. For this reason I have tought it could be a software problem. There's also the unfortunate but realistic possibility of a material defect caused by the failure of some part of a component. There are always going to be certain percentages, hopefully very low, of failure or defect, with any mass produced item. I hope that Panasonic finds it within their capability at this early stage to take care of your issue quickly, and discover the cause and address it if there are some bad components going in to the cameras, if indeed that turns out to be the case.
You are more "lucky" than me: you have the issue only on camera monitor, I have both issues, on camera monitor and on recorded clips. I've made other thest and these are my findings:I'm seeing the correct image on the marshall but not the camera lcd.
This camera should have 2 WB sensors: one is the chip itself and the other should be an external sensor. It is hard to understand from the user manual the exact location of the external sensor, but it should be on the front (obviously), at the center of the remote sensor. If this is the sensor, it is completely free from any obstacle, solid or trasparent. I don't know if the sensor points straight out or not, I have no way to test for this. I repeat once again: I'm not completely sure (because I've formatted the first card), but it seems to me that the yellow casting was not present in the previous days and I've white balanced other times. If I'm right, sometimes has happened in the meanwhile to the software or to the sensor. I'll post another test with stupid clips showing definitively that this copy of the the camera has no casting using the daylight preset, but it turns yellow-greenish if you white balance. If you use a gray card there's only a little amount of yellow-green, but it is still there. Yes, perhaps there could be a coloured card that allows me to balance correctly, but I prefer to have a camera that perform a normal white balance, expecially if when I have noticed the problems the camera operation counter was at 1 hour.Maybe your white balance sensor is not pointing "straight out". (I don't have one of these cameras, so I am not sure where the white balance sensor is located)
I have performed a quick dirty test outdoor today. Now I have more data and I can conclude that it is a color balance issue. It is clearly visible and it is increased by the monitor green casting, but it is also in footage. Here is the dirty testGary, I've not read this entire thread, so please forgive me if this has already been stated, but do you have the ATW switched off in the menu? Also, have you checked to make sure the source illuminating your balance cards is pure and not contaminated by another light source of different temperature?
