Hey Guys,

I just finished post for my first Short with the Canon 7D.

'True Doggy Love'

Just a "sunny saturday doggyday short".

I used that "new" Tamron 17-50mm VC i just gad, did a great job with its VC,
no tripod, yes, that´s obvious, i know.
Did some CCorrection in FCP but nothing else.

My Dog shacking pretty much nailed rolling shutter! :)

Song is from the O.S.T Crazy Heart - Jeff Bridges - Brand New Angel

Feel free to comment/critics.

Best Wishes,

Sebastian

Watch your exposure! This isn´t a case of letting a window blow out for the sake of getting the shot or not. This is a basic filming skill.
Also, your CC just doesn´t seem to follow a purpose. And look at the skintones at the end of the video, the look reminds me a little of a broken RGB monitor cable...
Nice dackels, though!

@bwwd and spartacus,

yes, it is overexposed, i wanted to try that, but it is true, the less exposed footage actually looks much better.

@Cipo gadda buy one of those, any preferences?

Some of the over exposed shots looked okay...almost artistic...like at 0:49. But most were way too bright. I haven't worked with the 7D much, but I know on the 5D if you hold the shutter half way down it will show you your exposure. If it's too high, then adjust your settings till it's in the middle.

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

hi there,

yeah, this was the look i wanted, just like 0:45. it´s that milky, nikon kinda look,
but maybe little bit too much.

thanx for your comment.

Ah, I didn't even know that.
So, you want to make sure the moving line is in the middle for correct exposure?

It's a way of gauging exposure. I wouldn't rely on it entirely, but rather use it as a tool to tell you where you are. When you're outdoors, a shot may look fine looking at the LCD, but may be over exposed when you get inside. Use it to help you know where you are at.

with the 7d, I only use the half shutter level check as a basis... I usually overexpose it compared to what the meter says, just to get the extra few stops to CC with later... Though I don't overexpose to blowout

Funny dogs man, nice footage, kind of overexposed but I understand what you had in mind. Keep the good work.

wow, you gad a load of primes there!
which adapter do you use?!
did you use the primes on a nikon before,
is there any difference by using the adapter?

Because exposure is HIGH, does not necessarily mean bad, it can be an artistic choice. Not saying it is here, but just wanted to make a point.

Also Im a tad confused on one thing. Kleiner you say this

I wouldnt call this a short, more an artistic home movie. If that sounds... whats the word Im looking for? not harsh... anyway, I think you should aim for more in your "first short". Certainly not perfection, but at least a discernible story.
