My 1st big purchase!

In the next month or so, I will be purchasing a dvx100a and a g5. What are the minimum accessories that I will need for the dvx100a? And also, if I was to get a hold of fcp hd, could I edit on that, or would I have to get fcp 4? I need help! Any advice would help.

I don't know as much about the programs, but as far as what you'd NEED to go with your DVX, the only real thing is a DV tape.

The DVX on its own can shoot great video - you can get all the bells and whistles to go along with it, but you'll end up spending a LOT on other stuff, and there's always more that you can get to beef up your puppy. If you're not needing a boom microphone of some sort, the need to shoot through filters, a follow focus, etc, the DVX on its own will do ya fine

If you're looking to save some money I'd pass on the Pelican or Portabrace, head over to cases4less.com and get the Dosko X-Large case for $65.00. IMO.
