MXF to MOV

Hello,

I did not yet have FCP 5.0.4 when I did my first shoot with my new HVX-200 so I imported the Contents from each of my P2 cards onto my computer. Now that I have FCP 5.0.4 and tried to Import the P2 footage from those folders it says that "The Selected Path Does Not Contain a P2 volume." I see the MXF files in the folder but cannot import them to convert them to MOV files from which to edit. I really need this footage. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can use this footage. I am very open to any advice. Thanks so much.

You have to drag the entire P2 icon to your hard drive to save it...there are other files FCPro needs to import the MXF files

I dragged the all the files in the 'Contents' folder that came up in the Finder onto my hard drive and it still wont import.

You need the lastclip.txt file for FCP to be able to import the MXF files correctly. It's outside the contents folder.

Appreciate the response. Without that file can I use the footage or is it just gone? Can I recreate one? That might be a stupid question but I really need this footage. Thanks

DVfilmmaker will be able to convert it to quicktime in an upcoming version.
Apple will hopefully make an update to FCP for better P2/MXF functionality. (Did anyone mention batch import of P2 media?)

really, you need to save "lastclip.txt" file? i've backed up my mxf files on extra drives and they import just fine with out that text file.

This is the case for FCP. Whar are you using?

I backed up my files too into a big contents folder without all the lastclip.txt files and tested to make sure it imported.. it imported just fine. but i'm scared now... maybe you just need one? does anyone know what this file does?

I thought it is just a marker to let the file numbering know how to number the next sequence.
