MXF only hd format?

I just need to confirm that MXF is the ONLY file format HD material can be captured at in the hvx.

Not certain what you are asking. The HVX records to MXF format in the p2 cards when recording HD.

However, it records to QT when capturing via firewire directly to Final Cut Pro. Also, DV Rack HD 2.0 facilitates other wrapper formats

Right -- when using DV Rack you can choose AVI type 1 or AVI type 2, or a Canopus AVI, or Quicktime.

When using the FireStore, right now it's MXF only but I thought they were going to add AVI and QT support?

I thought the CitiDisk uses QT as well, or was supposed to be updated to support it.

But on the P2 cards, it's only MXF.

ah... interesting, thanks guys... I was unaware there were other options if you were capturing HD and had other pheripherals hooked up. Thanks.

Slight correction on this: If the DV File Format setting in DV Rack is set to AVI Type 1 and Canopus, a DVCPro HD stream will be recorded as AVI Type 2. In the case of the Canopus file format, that's because there is no special Canopus header for DVCPro clips. With Type 1, it's because no NLEs support Type 1 DVCPro. If you have AVI Type 1 selected, DV Rack does not remove the flagged frames from 720P video--clips will all have 60fps.

Also, there's an additional option that Barry didn't mention: QuickTime for Avid.

CitiDISK HD will capture into both QuickTime and AVI when recording HD from the HVX200 right now. MXF support will be added via a free firmware upgrade at a later date.
