MXF files look terrible...please help

Hello,

I shot video using a Canon XF300 set at 50 Mbps CBR 1920x1080, 59.94i.

When I bring in the video into FCP or Adobe Premiere the footage looks terrible. It's grainy and low res. When played back on the camera, it looked the way it should. I'm a newb at this so I picked the highest quality setting thinking i can downsize from there. I tried the converters and canon utilities available and the footage still looks bad when viewed in FCP or Premiere. What am I doing wrong? I have the original CF cards but rented the camera so I cannot import from camera.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for replying. My playback settings are on high.

"make new sequence setting" in PP?" I'm not sure what program you're referring to here.
sorry I'm a newb at this. Thank you for your time...

Thanks Noel. I did that. I can see the clips in FCP. However, it looks low res not as clear as I thought. All around fuzziness... would my settings 50 Mbps CBR 1920x1080, 59.94i have anything to do with it? Can you give me an example of the proper workflow when working with MXF files? I appreciate your time. Thank you for responding.

Get the canon xf utility and view your clips with it first. They should look fine if you have proprly exposed them. Check that out first and then ring back. You can download the utilty onthe web from canon. You say you are using premiere, what settings did you use to set up the project?
