Ok, so I have had a problem for a few weeks that, until today, I was unable to solve. I had rented an FS-100 drive for a shoot, and rather than utlizing the "organize p2 media" ultility on the drive, I simply copied the MXF files into a new directory on my computer. The drive was returned and I then realized my mistake. I have literally tried every possibly solution I've seen posted on different forums that doesn't involve spending hundreds of dollars on specialty software. According to most posts I have read, I was completely screwed.
I did end up finding a viable workaround. I simply downloaded and installed the Panasonic P2 drivers availablie here (https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/pcdriver_li_e.htm) and the MXF files were able to be played in Quicktime like any other MOV. Once there I saved them as MOVs and I could instantly import them right into FCP, no problem. The only downside is that the audio and video are all separate MXF files, which would then need to be re-synched in Final Cut. This worked fine for my purposes because we weren't going to use the audio anyways. But the point is that if you are just trying to find a way to bring MXF files into FCP that aren't in a P2 files structure, there is at least one relatively easy way to do it.
Cheers
