Can I change the names of my MXF files to make some sense of them for editing? I wonder if I can change them and still keep them in the P2 folders while still having the audio attached
I think I remember reading something about this but I couldn't find the thread.
I convert all my mxf files via CineForm's HDLink, which gives me avi's and wav's. I then rename the avi's BEFORE I begin using them in my project.
To deal with a quirk I experienced a few times when converting mxf's, I once renamed the Audio folder (not the files within it), and while I got nearly-complete avi's, I got neither audio nor wav files, so the folder names are important. (At least to HDLink).
Once converted to avi's, and before using them in a project, you can think of them as simply "more files on your computer." You can name them, or rename them, as often as - or to whatever name - you want. However, I believe that if I rename them AFTER I've begun using them in a PPro 2 project, renaming files will/might cause PPro to lose track of them.
Thanks x002657, so this is what I was afraid I would have to do... I thought about rendering a lossless AVI for each clip and then I'd be able to use them as a normal file but this would be a pain in the arse and I am trying to find a way to avoid it...
