Shot this music video last week for my friend. Features some beautiful dancing by our other friend Sadie. Shot it with the 50 codec. Noticed it was a little hard to grade, and lots of noise comes out when grading. I used a customized version of Natural. I can't remember all of the settings but it's similar to the popular ones posted here. I'll check my camera and see what exact settings I used later.

I like it. Can't tell if the guy can dance or not. But that's not what matters.

Speaking of grading, how about you post a few UN-graded grabs of the shoot. I ask because when the GH3 sensor is fed sufficient light throughout the scene, I'm finding the Gh3 grades really well for such a codec.

Anyway, nice job man. I enjoyed the piece.

Nice Work Cory. I like the production and the arrangement a lot...great singer too.

I'm not surprised about the noise, shooting it low key as you did.
Nicely done but I think it's going to show the weakness of these, "less than robust" codecs - as good as the GH3 is.

Wow...Music...video...dancing...singing...guitar riff... I can't find anything negative to say about this piece. WELL DONE!!

Thanks. I'll get some from the musician. He has all of the footage.

Any chance for a Vimeo version? Youtube blocks this due to licencing issues in my country...

Unfortunately for now, I think the artist wants all of the views in one spot. I'll eventually upload it to my Vimeo page. Sorry about that.

Yea. The noise wasn't horrible by any means, and probably wouldn't bother any of the typical viewers, but it still bothered me.

Ditto...that's a great looking video.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Could work around the block - great video!
You shot at the percieved light level? The low-key look was created on set?

awesome video!

Thank you!

Thanks! Yea, a good amount of the shots I didn't even CC.

As Ian-T would say "well done"

Thank you!

Nice job. Lenses used?

Thanks! The majority of it was shot with the Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95 and then a couple of shots here and there were with the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8.

Love the emotion and style of the video. To me this wasn't just a video but it had feeling. That takes a lot of work to pull off well. We all try it but sometimes it doesn't always come across.

As a massive fan of the 80's myself I loved the almost pseudo 80's feeling it had. Kind of like what the 80's would like like today in a way or your own interpretation of what the 80's looked like. I like that.

The mood was very surreal and not just because of the somewhat mellow version of the song and the massive amounts of fog. The female dancer to me was amazing and just fit in so perfectly with the tone of the music and the misty setting. At first the musicians seemed out of place until I let go and gave in to the new mood of the music and the video itself. Then they just seemed to start to fit in. At first I thought they were too literal for the instruments used in the music but they eventually blended in for me.

Loved the fog but there were a couple of shots where the fog was a bit distracting like a random miss fire from the fog machine when it wasn't supposed to go off. Not enough to take aware from the mood but it did catch my eye.

Honestly I was so captured by the moos of the music, the video, and the beautiful female dancer I found myself not really caring about the male singer as much. Interesting feeling for a music video. Then again the whole piece seemed more like the tribute to MJ then the lead singer anyway so it didn't really bother me. For once the singer didn't seem like an arrogant prick and was just part of the overall movement of the video which to me made it flow better then 90% of the video being about how cool he is.

Very well done.

Wow, thank you so much. I really appreciate it. And I'm glad you picked up on the 80s music video vibe, I was definitely going for that.

Yea, definitely a couple of the heavy fog bursts were by accident. I was controlling it, while also operating the camera, so it was tough to get it exactly how I wanted. I was trying to tell a story with the fog, but a couple of times it just didn't work how I wanted.

The fact that you didn't think Mike was stealing the spotlight is even more impressive, because he edited the video as well. I gave him notes and cleaned up a couple of things here and there, but it was all him.

Thanks again for your kind words.

I am usually not a music video fan but this one grabbed me with the imagery (and I do like that song, one of the few before MJ took a turn I flat didn't like), the editing, and the overall feel.

I loved it, and will have to come back a few more times and watch it again.

Extremely well done in my opinion.

Yeah I usually don't watch through music videos myself, but this was very interesting to me. I have always liked the song and this version is so much more mellow. It doesn't "Pop" like the pop version I guess you might say.

I was hoping for something different and unusual in the middle of the song and I got that from the guitar player. He fit the part, and the guitar was punchy but not overpowering, and your shots of that made it fit well. Great Job!
