Music video shot with the A1

He thanks everyone. I wasn't going to post it as I knew folks were going to get wrapped up in the stuff that they were rapping about and not the actual video but oh well. The beauty of a web forum. : )

I don't know or remember the exact camera settings as I played with the camera the day before to get the colors that I enjoyed but I started with the DVX like preset that Disjecta created. I also shot most of the brick building background scenes with the shutter speed WAY up, almost maxed out. Everything but the night shots were natural light, run and gun style. The night shots were lit with two 1k britek (how ever it's spelled) lights, one with a soft box on it. The lens is stock. I have a Brevis35 but I REALLY love the DOF on this camera and wanted to see what I could pull off without any adapters.

As for some B roll stuff, I'd love to get some in there but for not being paid, they got plenty. : )

Let me know if u guys have any other input.

Thanks for the response.

Were these the Halogen 'work light' models or something else?

Again, really great look you pulled off! No trickery. Just talented shooting. Well done.

Thanks fellas.

Here's the light that was used:

Hey Jay... got those same lights.......
Nice video........ Not to many rap fans here....lol..lol as a fan of hiphop/rap I'd rate this video a 10 , just bacause I've seen vids. with a budget and they were garbage...
These guys are from the Asbury PK./Neptune Area...... got a chance to see their live show at the Convention Center a while back and they were one of the better acts of the night.
I like the 8mm film look on some of your scenes..what did you use for that?
Again nice vid.

Hey Chris! Whuddup man, long time no see! I used Magic Bullet for the 8mm look, it was a combo of a few of the scratch, dust and vignetting filters. They look good to me but I never really used them until now. Thanks for the response homie. I'll let them know what you said about their performance, I know they'll get amped about that.

Good look man.... I might do another vid for them, I'll give you a call and keep you posted. U got the same cell #?

looks alright, but from an editors point of view, you are just cutting performance to performance.. it could use some B-roll, cutaways,.. different angles. I know its hard to do that on a tight budget.. but I think for what it is.. its good.

thanks hiro. hey man, how did u do those paper/card board rips on your papa roach video?

are u talking about the matte over the video? it was a jpeg that i found at a free stock photography, i think it was a ... ripped up piece of paper... i fixed it up in photoshop.. and voila.

I made a unit ring light unit by picking up some home depot things and rigging it up. I love using it because it looks pretty darn good to me.

Perhaps posting the videos witout sound would have people here focus more on the cinematography vs. the content.

Looks good...this camera rocks. I like your golden time shots.

Question: What kind of delivery are you giving to your client? I assume this was shot in HD. Do they just want to stream it on a website or do you hand them off a tape or DVD?

Awesome Jay!~

Can you please post some photos of your ring light unit and maybe some info on how you built it?

Thanks

Deepfocus88, I just give them a master DVD in SD or HD, what ever format they request.

ESTEBEVERDE, I'll try to get back down there to take a pic of it.

The shots were great. I agree there could have been a B Roll for some diversity. The close ups on the guy with the bandana, what did you do to his eyes? I loved that. Were those just effect contacts or did you do that post or did you do that with lighting or what?
