music video shot on t2i

I liked it better when this was posted in the correct section. I saw it there. This is a repost.

Chop it faster, add more cut aways, B roll, slight story line. After a while a Music video that is only performance based gets boring, especially in this nature. Not bad, but needs work

I really appreciate all the feedback. I only had 2 hours to shoot and the artist had contacted me the night before and i had only 20 minutes to scout some locations to shoot for the mood of the music. As far as equipment i used a canon 50mm 1.8 a kit lens and a Sigma 10-22 Super wide. Thanks again. I have some other work I would like to share later on. I am going to start charging more for treatments which include stories.

Fuq that.. I'm new to the game, but calling the night before and having no type of guide is not a good deal. I for one would have said "ok cool.. lets find some locations, get an idea together, then go shoot". I agree that you need more cuts.. I'm learning that.. Slower songs dont require fast cuts.. Not bad tho.. :)

As far as pay, all or nothing I say. If you're charging $XX to do a vid, then turn around and charge $XXX, people are going to look at you sideways. Especially if you make a big jump from hundreds to thousands. My approach is roughly as such:

Person A contacts me and says they want to shoot a video and only has $XXX. Instead of me just saying "yea", I would say "ok, I'll do it for free, but cover my expenses which would be ~$XXX (just a little below their budget). This way they dont stamp a price on the video and feel as though that they're just covering your expenses. BECAUSE PErson B may know person A (as person A refered them since person B contacted them to see "how much did you pay for that vid?") and person B will expect to pay roughly the same. At that point you can say "oh no.. I charge $XXXX for vids.. They just covered expenses".

Mind you, this is if YOU WANT to shoot Person A. If not, then you can just brush it off and say "naw" <-(southern in me). IF you tell person A "Sure I'll do it for $XXX" then BAM, word will get around that you charged $XXX for the video and you will have to climb slowly to avoid shock factor.

Imagine you see a TV for $100 and then next week you see it for $1000. You'll say "well hell it was just $100 the week before! nothing has changed" vs that same TV is "on sale" for $100 then next week its $1000.. You'll say "damn.. i missed it when it was on sale".

Hope I'm making sense.. As I'm just typing my thoughts. Hopefuly I'm on the right track as I'm fairly new to this "scene" ha.. you saw that.. you saw what I did there.. yea.. yea you did...

:)

*others, if you see something wrong with my thought process, please do not hesitate to correct me as I wont be offended.. I'm still "new" and am still searching for that "right price to charge". For now I'm shooting for "expenses" so that I dont label my product ~"static" price until I find out what is worth my time/effort.

Does dude realize that there's already a recording artist named Tank that has been putting out records for the last 5 years? Other than that, well done! Be careful going handheld with that 50mm lens, you can see some microjitters, but the public doesn't nitpick small video stuff like we do :)

+1

For a Music video ( full song ) prices start @ $500... START and the artist has to get everything. Realistically though for these 'Rappers' that talk about So Much money they have, but can't pay their director it's a shame. Now if you are working with an artist who is bringing you a lot of work then you can make a deal, but as far as My prices go it's cash up front or forget about it... I don't care about you rappers this is a business. I usually charge $750 for these broke rappers.
