Music video shot on Cion...

Any detail in those blacks? Just curious if you crushed them on purpose and how close the Cion can get to a LOG format.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge about this cam....does it shoot RAW? I can't remember at the moment.

On that shoot, not much. I shot that with a higher contrast gamma setting, mainly because of time constraints since the festival deadline was a week from production day.

It can shoot a long-like setting which has wonderful detail, but generally requires color grading. I favor it for its look, but sometimes there just isn't time for grading, so it's a tradeoff.

It does shoot raw, but requires an external recorder to record it, and the Shogun doesn’t yet have AJA raw support.

In other projects where I'm able to use the flat gamma setting, the detail level is phenomenal.

Very nicely done I really enjoyed the whole video. The motion looks fantastic which struck me right away. I think the slightly crushed blacks work for the video.

Really good stuff. I'm digging those costumes!
This is the first Cion footage I've consciously seen thus far and it looks pretty good. What lenses did you use? If you don't mind me asking.

Thanks!
The slightly crushed blacks weren't entirely intentional, it was really a compromise based on limited resources. Since it worked, no one complained. :)

The producer had intended to convert the video to black and white, but the combination of the vibrant costumes plus the way that the colors rendered swayed her. It probably didn't help that my camera blocking was heavily influenced by the colors of the costumes. :)

At the time, I had only one PL mount lens, a 25mm Zeiss CP.2. My 50 and 85 arrived about two weeks later due to being back-ordered.

Sorry for the delayed responses... I've been doing some adventuring in the back country, so I've been off-grid a bit. It's been tremendously fun though. :)

Have you used your Cion to shoot any interviews or anything of the like to test the camera's audio? I use one at my new job and we had to get a replacement because the preamps are so weak. Even in the new replacement I'm not happy with how it sounds.

I've recorded a couple of interviews with it, and I've been getting good quality sound on it. I had to raise the gain on the Rode wireless lav, but I'm getting good levels, though naturally I prefer to record on my 633 when I can, it does require more hands than I have when I'm solo. :)

We are doing the same on our Sony wireless lav system and adding +12db there. Sounds better but not the best it could be. Thanks for your input
