There's subtitles for the documentary part. The title means someting like "Time Ground" and it's about the passage of time and the way it transforms us.

We had no money to do this, 6 hours only with the band, another day with the watchmaker for the documentary part...

I thought it was very well shot and the editing was superb. The lighting was also used very well, especially for the faces, and especially the singer, she looked great in that light.

if I had to point at anything, it would be the close ups, that were made with such wide angle lenses, although that's kind of a cool way to to close ups, in this case they stood out from the rest of the shots in terms of "design", maybe because they seemed to be the only shots where the object was very close to the camera, rather than maintaining a consistent camera language regarding camera/object/people. But other than that I thought it was a great looking video. Well done.

Muito bom trabalho, parabéns de Lisboa!

I think static shots have their place in Music Video projects, just like camera movement. The main thing that stood out to me was the lack of any movement. Seemed like you just framed someone up on a tripod and you told them "Go". Honest opinion is static shot videos with no kind of camera movement look very very boring.

Obrigado Nuno! :)

We only had a soft light of 500w and two hard lights of 250w. Originally the light was a bit more yellowish but I color corrected it in Color and gave it those textures. I had a type of photography in mind for every part of the video to translate what the song was about...

In our the case the problem was that we really didn't had any more lenses... And also because we were in a tight schedule. Originally I wasn't thinking of having them so close to the camera but because we didn't had time to light the instruments and the members of the band properly we had to go with that...

Your reel is amazing. If you're searching for someone to do freelance jobs for you please contact me...

I was thinking of having more camera movements but the only equipment that we had were two tripods and a dolly that wasn't working very well. So the only movement that we had in the part with the band was really that travelling in at the beginning of the song at 00:40...

I tried to counterbalance the lack of equipment by giving the video a lot of textures with the documentary part wich was all hand held with the watchmaker and with the different kinds protography. It's sad that the song isn't translated - the band thought it was better not to and I respected that - or you would notice the parallel between what is being said in the song and by the watchmaker...

I actually love music videos without movements, dollies and steadycams have been used to death. Its actually creatively more difficult to do a video without movements, as movements tend to be an easy answer to many weak shots!

This video doesn't have one single move!

Now that a poor video on why something can look horribly only shot still. It gives the view of looking at a picture or being a lifeless image somewhere. Like I mentioned tripod shots have their place, but that video is an excellent example of why static shots for an entire project should never be used.

The point of any project is to flow from one scene to another... Having a whole bunch of cuts to get from one distance to another make it seem more like photography than videography. A very nice sweeping motion following someone could never look as smooth as setting up 10+ tripod shots to achieve the same look.

At the end of the day this is all opinions, but to say tripod shots are more creative is 100% false.

If the point of videography would be to have the camera moving, it would be so easy to make good videos, wouldn't it? I believe that what makes a good video is essentially the energy you can give your visuals to help sell the music. And when I say that you need to be more creative with a static camera, I mean that every time you cut, you need to finds a new angle, a new point of view, that cuts well with the shots before and after, everything takes on another dimension of visual communication.

But I'll give you another video, this time one of the most seen and popular music videos of recent years, again, no moving camera, appart from the beginning of the video, (in the story section). I'm not asking to like the music, or the artists, but just to realise how much creative work goes on to shoot something like this. And if you look really close, this kind of energy in the visuals and the editing wouldn't work any other way, and especially not with a moving camera!
