hey guys,

if i want the main character to go backwards, as well as his environment,
but i want him to sing forward,
how do i film this?

walking forward and he´s gad to learn the song backwards?
and then i play the footage in reverse?

is there anything important to take care of?

if i want like destroyed glass to get fixed again, i should use the 720p 50fps, right?
can i film the rest in 1080p, or should i then use 720p for the whole video?

thx guys,

Sebastian

I remember reading many years ago that they "The Artist" were the ones who walked and did everything backwards and they just reversed it in post

that looks pretty strange indeed,
but i want the artist going backwards in the actually video, and singing synchron. so he gadda walk normal and sing wrong in the original footage.
but those guys walked "wrong", and rapped backwards, how could they learn that, wow.

Get the track, reverse it, film the band singing and playing to the reversed track, then flip the whole thing (music and footage) in your editing program.

Very simple to do in practice.

Practise in your front room, with yourself singing or pretending to play an instrument, you will get your head around it in 5 minutes.

Noting that you wouldn't have to do with normal (non-backwards) footage/filming.

If you want the singer to be singing correctly and walking backwards, then this is the way to go.

Yes, high speed frame rates (meaning slow-motion) helps on these kinds of shots.

Your choice.

You could scale all the 1080p stuff down to 720p so you do not have to scale the 720p (breaking glass) stuff up to 1080p where it might become a little soft.

Experiment, there are no rules, if it's destined for YouTube only then 720p is fine . . . .

can you tell me, what it is about, i can´t watch it in germany, cause youtube says "the content belongs to EMI and can´be watched in your country",

maybe i can search it somewhere else!

thx

It's Coldplay "The Scientist", a very good example (if not the best example) of what you're trying to do with your video. Chris Martin learnt how to sing the entire song backwards, practicing it in a mirror to get it perfect. I remember reading some interview about it and he said it took the best part of a month to learn it.

Go watch the movie The Rocker. This is a hilarious movie, if you liked Spinal Tap then you will definitely like this one as well, and there is this scene in which the band shoots their first video clip, it's "behind the scenes" and what you are describing is exactly the same thing they are doing so you get to see how it's done.

Not a music video but it's still pretty awesome.
