hey guys im shootin a music vid and im trying to achieve the swme kind of effect iwt the vignette type thing in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EyI4p0yjDQ

Photoshop hasn't worked that well for me because the edges don't look very good. I also have full screen video and I am wondering the best way to achieve this and keep as much of it as possible. thanks so much!!!

You can recreate that easily, and to any size/shape you wish. Looking at the video you linked, the effect is a combination of hard and soft edge effects. Use a hard(er)edge to create the film frame and fill it in with a soft(er) vignette. If you have Magic Bullet, you have a great vignette filter. Otherwise, if editing on FCP, there's a really good free one here: http://www.videonline.co.uk/MainMenu.htm

I'd start by creating a hard(er)-edged mask in your NLE or Photoshop to your desired frame size, then use the vignette to fill in around the edges.
