Music Video: (check it out for the slo motion)

Slow motion looked good. What NLE are you using? And did you shoot the whole video in 30p or just the slow sequences?

As for the video I liked it a lot. The pacing of the cuts was well done. I would have liked it better if the letterbox stayed at one ratio. It's not as noticeable when the preceding clip faded to black, but the change on the fly distracted me a bit. Other than that well done.

liked the video man, it was cool that you had a story line going along with the performance...i don't see that very often around here, so it's a nice change.

Great video, Toaster! I really liked that one. The song I'm not so crazy about (I really can't stand any band that has come around after the year 2000 or so) but, to be honest, that song was MUCH better than most of the crap coming around. REally liked the drumming. ANYWAY, the footage looked super clean, well lit. The slow mo was smooooth. :) The only thing that threw me off a bit was the changing of the aspect ratio, but even that wasn't a big deal. and of course the colored sections at the end seemed out of place, but hey, it still looked really good. Bravo.

Repeat of the same questions above: all in 30P / what NLE / et cetera ?

p.s. don't mind the AR shifts at all...

nice video toaster, great concept.

I think you tried to do too much at the end though - the split screen and colors were a bit much to intoduce so late in the vid. Didn't care for the AR change, but didn't bother me either...
How did you get the color of the little girl at the very end?
again nice job!

yo yo yo what's up guys .. that's for the feedback and please keep it comin, I'd like this to be uber sick!!!

I shot the slo-mo in 30P/120, the rest I shot in 24P switching between 120 and 250 (I'm on the original dvx100 .. no a, no b!). I cut everything using FCP 4.5. I have a few plug-ins that I use very sparingly. All of my CC is done in FCP too.

I already kicked out the color panes at the end. At 3 a.m. the other night I thought it looked cool ... but after some sleep and a few gallons of coffee .. yeah, couldn't deal with it either!!! I'll put a final version up in a day or so.

Oh yeah, and I want the snap aspect ratios to function as transitions. Since there is a little bit of back and forth with the story, I wanted to emphasise those points in time with color and AR. I'm still feelin it ...

Thanks again ... rock!!!

Okay dude, I really like the concept and the use of slo mo. The only thing I didn't like was the lighting. It was very flat. Some CC might help this out a bit.

I liked your angles and stuff, but I was hoping for something a little more dramatic right before the end. The shot of the girl crying around a ton of people was sweet htough.

I had an idea tonight ... I'm gunna try to transition the snap AR's by doing some kind of camera shutter-esque effect. So the frame blinks like an eye lid and then goes to its new aspect / frame size. sorry for the blog like entry .. ill post an example soon under the one above tp compare. i think that was the final thing i was lookin for...

Ok...all done. Hit me up and show you're love/hate/wonderment!

(clocks in around 60MB)

Lessons learned:

(1) When colleagues and friends say stay away from kids, yeah ... stay away from kids. But then again, I kept touching the stove even when mom said it was hot. This girl was cute, but took forevvvvvvver to get her to do what i wanted.

(2) Buy a friggin megaphone or something. Trying to talk over so many people at the party scene that my voice was shot within an hour. Damn.

Okay .. now YOU!
Rock.

Hahahaha.

Oh, right. The video... ahem.

Nice composition, great use of fluid, stutter-less slo-mo.

Bueno!

Hey Flip - no plug-ins to produce the slo-mo. It was simply 30P shot at 120 and reduced to 70%, then simmered until done. I used some FCP color correction filter to tweak, though.

Giraffe - BWAH!!!!!!! LOL!
