multiple T2I shoot - colour problems? please help

Hey all,

A little while ago a couple friends and I went out with our T2I's to shoot some footage. We were trying to re-create the matrix bullettime effect by having several T2I's in a row and shoot the same action, etc. We used the same preset colour balance (Shade) on all three t2i's, as well as matched ISO/Shutter/etc on all of them.

However, looking through the footage now, we notice that one camera is slightly less saturated than the other 2, even though they're all at the same setting. there just seems to be less color in this one than the others....anyone know why this would be? does this mean one of them is defective?

Also white balanced at the same time to the same source/white card. Not too likely to match exact anyways- this is what color correction is for.

@ pulpfiction007 yes the pictures styles were all set to default settings on all three cameras

@noahK we were using the preset white balance setting called 'Shade' so there was no manual white balancing done

Right exactly my point- the 'preset' is not going to be as consistent across different cameras as a manual white balance to a common reference would be. Bottom line is these are not cameras you can expect exact matching from cam to cam without doing the work yourself on a broadcast monitor with a waveform. Otherwise- you'll do it in post. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

The only other thing I can think of is lighting playing a role in one looking a bit different, since the cameras aren't in the same exact position....the way the light hits the sensor may change the way the wb is adjusting for color. Had you said there was a drastic difference in color, I don't think that would be it....but if they are just a bit off - it could be. (Manual WB may be better as NoahK said.)
And it may be as simple as the production line/generation of the sensor...GH1/2 users know first hand that many people have different results with the same camera. I don't think the camera is defective though, just based on your scenario. Hopefully, if you do another multi cam shoot you can just bump up the saturation one notch above the other two cams.

Anyway...just brainstorming.

Ohh sorry, I misunderstood what you said before. Okay this will just have to be something that is fixed in post. Thanks for your help :)

What lenses on each camera? Exact same lenses? That could also change up color.

Also if you watch the matrix behind the scenes there are shifts in the image (before the effect was created) of the bullet time. That's where endless hours of work in the color grading and effects work comes in to make it look all seamless.

Look how rough this is before effects, position matching, ect.
