first, thanks for all the info, from my first days with the DVX...
some of you might have met my brother (tal) at the boot camp in NYC, we are going on an unusual journey.
i cannot get too specific at this stage, but i am working on a project that will require real-time editing of 9 streams of DVC HD from 9 HVXs. we need to set up a "on the field" post production post, to view dailies. we have a small room allocated to us, we need a system that can handle this much data in real time. we are going to use:
Quad g5
60" plasma(TH-65PHD8UK) to view the multiple files,
and a 17" screen to view individual streams (BT-LH1700W)
i know FCP can handle 16 real time streams, but im not sure what kind of raid system would we need. as of now i am leaning towards 2 xraids. 1 for backup: set up as raid 5 (or 1), and 1 as raid 0 for work. shortly, would a raid 0 xraid and a g5 quad be able to play 9 real time video streams? (i dont know if it will be 1080 or 720)
