Multi-camera shoot with XH-A1 cameras

Hi folks,
New to the forum, so thanks for having me.

My firm is interested in moving into multi-camera shoots. We have an XH-A1 with Firestore set-up and are interested in purchasing another XH-A1/Firestore set-up to enhance our production. Are there tips/tricks that you would suggest? I realize we don't have gen-lock with these particular cameras, which would make things easier. Would a simple clapboard to sync our scenes be easy enough to utilize? Perhaps another issue is the constant roll through the Firestore, which creates a new file after about 8 minutes of length, in my experience.

Any advice would be welcome since we're in the process of evaluating whether this would be a worthwhile expense/investment.

Kind regards,
Hoyle

The A1 doesn't generate a sync signal. You'd need an XH-G1 to get gen lock out. You could probably sync the A1 with a G1 though.

Welcome Hoyle. I don't know what level of production you're presently at .. but I do know that adding another camera and its ongoing expenses doesn't necessarily reflect those increased costs in the final productions.

Sometimes much better lighting and better sound eg: better (costlier) mics, use of green screen, better post prod fx and generally smartening up the presentations is the way to go.

Your audiences WILL notice those.
Cheers.

you can sync an A1 with a G1. i use 2 A1's together now and it is somewhat of a pain.

Raster makes a very good point however, we have a full system for both cameras.
