Mukilteo Revisited

disjecta

Lucky Duck
I spent a few hours in Mukilteo here in Washington over the Thanksgiving holiday. I originally shot this earlier in the year but was using a lot of filler shots until I was able to go again.

So, the core edit is the same as most of you have seen but there's some really nice new shots, particulary of the ferry....anyway, enjoy.

disjecta....your stuff always looks great!

I can't wait to see what you can do with a HVX200!

someday i will have enough money for an hvx....i hope :(

Looks good.

I did notice what appears to be a couple of spots (smudges perhaps) on the lens at about one minute into the film where you are panning to camera right to the top of the ship. One spot is at the top of the frame at about a third of the way from the extreme left edge the other, a somewhat smaller one is also near the top of the frame just to the right of the center.

Otherwise, great framing and excellent integration of the score.

Hey thanks....those spots and smudges you mentioned are clouds :) The camera is actually static and the ship is moving into the frame...

I'm looking forward to shooting with my new HVX200 also. I'm expecting it to ship to me in October of 2012 :)

I liked this short before and Think the new stuff is great.

It is very interesting to see your footage before it goes through your upresing and CC.

nice work.

Bonsoir Disjecta,

Nice work as always, it's been while since my last post in DVXuser, I was working so hard on my house :) and after it's finished, I'm leaving for a few months trip in Australia and New-Zealand in mid-January, so I will be out again for a while. ;)

I will definitely be working hard to bring back some beautiful images from the southern hemisphere. :)

Keep doing it, your work is an inspiring one.

A+

Hey Disjecta,
Great work again. Your shots are always so perfectly exposed! I did notice something a little strange that almost seemed like a theme. Quite a few of your shots looked very slightly tilted from bottom left to top right. Intentional? It's very slight, sometimes the horizons, sometimes the subjects.

P.S. I love that slow shutter rain (or snow) shot towards the end. Very nice.

Hey Ryan, thanks for the comments. Some of the shots are definitely off, my tripod is having issues but I'm sure some of it is stuff I just didn't notice at the time. The second shot with the "a steven dempsey film" title over it is the worst offender.

Shadow, nice to hear from you as always. I'm looking forward to seeing footage from your trip. Good luck.

Rook, what's up there now is the uprezzed version.

Thanks again everyone. I appreciate the comments.

i love your work just as much as the next people. now, the only thing i noticed, and i hope i don't get killed for this, is that some of the footage looked grainy too me. it didn't ruin the video by any means, but i just thought i'd say there was some grainy footage.

other than that, everything is superb.

Yeah, when I originally posted this video, I indicated that I was playing with the gain switch the night before and forgot to turn it off. It all but ruined most of my shooting that day. It's one of the main reasons I had to go back and reshoot so many scenes.

:)

either way, it came out great as always, Disjecta. Your stuff really does inspire a lot of people, including myself. and after reading about your uprez technique with PhotoZoom Pro on your site, it helped me a LOT with getting the right image size I was looking for. Thanks for the help and the inspiration!

Every time your intro title appears, it tricks me because I always think it's the actual movie.

Incredible scenery. Well executed. Wonderful, wonderful stuff, my friend.
