.mts to .mpeg iframe bacth processing workflow? (opensource apreciated)

hi all
is there any way to transcode from .mts to .avi (mpeg iframe hd)?
now i'm using adobe media encoder, but is really unstable (i have to re-do a lot of files non-converted)
i can do it with virtualdub, but i can't find a way to do it automatically with many files
any help will be apreciated
regards

I've also been looking for a solution for this myself. MPEG Streamclip doesn't support MTS files, Clipwrap is only for Mac (and not free), Virtualdub can't batch process MTS files, and the other methods all involve a complex time consuming process. So far the best thing I've found is TMPEGEnc Video Mastering Works 5, but that's a 100 bucks. I'm testing out the trial right now and it seems pretty good. It read and encode to a ton of formats including the now free Cineform and Matrox I-Frame codec (underrated IMO). With the included video denoiser, it's actually starting to look like a pretty good deal. Too bad the batch processing is unavailable in the trial.

spend the $100 on TMPGEnc. I rely on it for post-production and it has made my money back many times over!

I use TMPGEnc to transcode my raw avchd into DNxHD for editing. I edit and render a master back to DNxHD which I then take into TMPGEnc for final CC and processing. I then apply the video noise reduction and contour sharpening filters while exporting to a high quality mp4 for YouTube upload.

The batch functions work great and this program saves me so much time and hassle it is worth every penny of the $100 you'll spend!
