whooey......its another fumed debate...these happen because there are guys who are new and decided to just flame us on.....which is pathetic.

Don't judge a few screens without seeing the whole thing.

This movie was not done for shock appeal, it was done to be a real horror and it looks like it worked well. It was totally psychological, there was no gore, no nudity only implied events. I admit I pushed it with this film, I wanted to set this film apart from every other entry and it looks like I have. It was a perfect execution for a 3 minute film.

unfortunately I will not post it on this board because I do not want to further offend people. If you want to PM me I will more then happily send you the short but posting it on the site is not something I would want to do because it is a very touchy film.

to the guy who told me to sell my equiptment because I had no future in film, a message for you.

When you were 17 did you win a film festival, have a successful production company and get hired for DP jobs from people twice your age? probably not.

I have never made a film like this before, never even a horror, this was a totally new genre to me and was totally experimental, I have total respect for women and the actress which I worked with said it was a positive experience and she wants to work with us in the future. She was totally confortable with everything on the shoot and she didnt regret this at all.

once again pm me if you are interested in seeing the movie. If you guys have any other questions about this film post up and ill answer.

What!!! No gore, no nudity- "psychological" and you call this garbage horror....
I jest of course. If you are ruffling feathers just from a few grabs then you are probably doing something right.
Good Luck.

Hey everyone,

I feel really stupid right now. :embarasse This morning when I looked at the pictures I had a glare on my screen. I am looking now more closely without the glare and realize she is not nude at all. My comments were based mainly on the fact that I thought she was nude while being tortured. It's a totally different story to me now that I see she is just gagged. I really thought it was some kind of sexual/brutality thing.

I sincerely apologize to everyone who has read or will read this post. Most of my comments were out of place.

Please forgive?

Aaron,

Great job on the lighting. (I know it's been said before). But I love how you were able to keep the full range of values. Keep up the good work.

As for the nudity thing - I'm ok with it as long as it fits within the story/character. And I would love to see the finished piece. I'll be PM'ing you shortly. I think that the confusion comes from the title of the thread (ADULT CONTENT) and the nipple. When you read adult content the first thing you think of is nudity. Then when you see the pic's you're already primed for what you're going to see. The ropes around her neck are similar enough to make the top of her shirt seem just like another rope. Adding to the presuposition that she is naked. I must admit, that when I first saw the pic's I thought that she was naked. It wasn't until later, when I looked at the pic's again that I realized that she had a shirt on.

Anyway, I'm glad that she enjoyed it as well. I hope you do well with it.

Wow what a ride it has been LOL. I am actually surprised this sort of thing hasnt crept into the boards before and the mods handled it very well I thought. Kudos to you, and to Kevin for being big enough to see an error and call Himself on it. Welcome to the fold Kevin.

I have worked as a mod on other film sites and it can be a thankless job. I had a similar experience where a fueding "god of cinema" ennacted his revenge upon me by taking my puiblic e-mail address and listing me with about 400 porn sites/E-newsletters. You know once you are on those lists you never get off. An address that had beed spam free for 5 years still gets about 6 of those a day. So thanks to the mods for what you do here.

A question for Kevin. Why are you totaly OK with the depiction of brutality towards women as long as they are clothed?

Hooligan, I know this may sound trite to you, but step back from this for a second and try to get a larger, philosophical view of it.

If I show a grab of a bunch of teenagers shooting up heroin, you might come on and berate be for condoning drug use among kids. However, from that grab you don't know what I'm doing. Maybe I am condoning drug use among teens. Maybe, I'm making an afterschool special to keep kids from trying drugs and that grab is from a scene meant to dissuade. Maybe my target audience is parents, and I'm trying to illustrate the dangers that can occur from being absent in your child's life. Maybe I'm telling the true story (as sad and disturbing as it may be) of a childhood friend who overdosed. My point is, without seeing the film or reading the script, you have no idea what message is being conveyed by the grabs of teens shooting up. Likewise, none of us knows what the message of this film is from the grabs that have been prevented.

What if the story was about a female submissive in the S&M culture who is frustrated because she is placing ads for a dominant male and she keeps being disappointed because all of the respondents are just looking for sex and are not really into the lifestyle that is so important to her? Then towards the end of the film, by chance she meets this man and her dreams come true. While it might still be disturbing to you, she certainly would cease to be a victim.

Have you seen Fritz Lang's, "M"? It's about a kinder-murderer. The film is generations ahead of it's time in terms of cinematography and story telling. The film hits on some very important sociological questions. Should those questions not be addressed because you or someone else is uncomfortable with the underlying story matter, regardless of how it's handled?

Morality is something we all share, the problem is we all define it differently. I consider half the films on John's list to be unwatchable. But that doesn't mean their not good, it just means that I don't like them.

Just something to think about.

Matt

I think MattC may be the only person who "Get's it."

How people here (filmmakers at that) are failing to not only grasp the idea but can't see past a simple frame grab is numbing and does not say much for the artistry on this site. I would think there would not only be a more liberal outlook here but definatley a more abstract and open welcome to the approach to the art of filmmaking and expression.

On that note; I'm closing this up.

You guys can go see your PG-13 schlock and films like The Island; whatever moves you.
