Mr. Bloom's footage from Zacuto HQ

I saw this footage yesterday and started to wonderwhy it is so choppy during whip pans? I mean sometimes it looks like the frame rate is going down to 20 or 15 fps, this effect is very annoying. I dont think it is my computer's fault, because I just bought a new i7/9800GT/6GB-DDR3, all the other HD clips (also those from 7D) look fantastic. What is it?

Hm... I just watched it once again. Maybe it doesnt look like frame rate downfall, but more like sudden 'twitching' of the image. It is very noticeable when the guys are talking in the hall (06:15 to 08:30).

It's gonna be hard to tell unless you are watching the original clips from the camera. There is a lot of decoding and scaling going on when you are watching a video through a flash player. Certainly not the best medium to judge video clips from a new camera.

Funny, that's the footage that sold me on the camera. To see what the cam does in a low/ no light run and gun situation is very valuable, IMO. There's jello/skew for sure, but looks the same or better than the GH1, which is manageable for me.

Maybe you were seeing the frame rate slow on your computer? I didn't notice anything jumping or skipping at all.

Yeah, I have to admit after watching the footage again that the skew was really only distracting with the extreme almost 180 degree whip pans. Everything else was pretty damn good. I think Jack Daniel Stanleys advice for the GH1 still applies (switch to 720/60 for fast motion stuff). Great camera... now the only thing holding me back is talent... and credit...
