Hi
Can someone tell me what the difference is between MPEG Streamclip and the Canon EOS plugin for converting to ProRes?
Don't they essentially do the same thing? Which one is faster -'better'?
Up to personal taste, really. However, if you are shooting with the T2i/550D I'd definitely go with MPEG StreamClip. The EOS-E1 plug-in doesn't officially support the T2i, and the hack that opens that door is unreliable.
You get timecode and a reel number, and a very easy way to reimport footage into a project and have the cut rebuild if you happen to lose a hard drive, or want to revisit a cut. If you use outside converters, you'll have to manually reconnect, and that might not rebuilt things properly. Timecode is a HUGELY important thing.
