Moving Time Lapse

Okay all, how would you pull of a time lapse shot where the camera is moving the background and everything in frame is moving fast but the camera itself is slowly dollying through the shot changing the perspective? Ideas?

I make a path and base my movement in inches, it depnds on how fast you want to move the camera. You have to be consistent.

I did a Interval at 5sec. and moved every 3 frames, you wil be fine. Dolly wise that is. But if you are panning, it is all in luck :) unless you have notches like I think the catoni and Sachtler. Panning is a diffrent story :)

For pan & tilt, using a gear head with wheels is a good wya to go.

For dollying, lots of practice, and good timing! Or a motorized system that runs very slowly at a constant speed.

Mo-con is the best way to do any of this and get garunteed results.

Most people use a motorized system with stepper motors to get the small movements that are needed for a good looking motion control move during a timelpase.

I have a Cartoni Focus, what notches are you talking about?

i never actually got to shoot it ( the " director " changed his mind about the shot and went with a boring shot instead), but the theory sounded good; on pvc dolly track i used a dry erase marker to mark out half inches that lined up with a spot on on the dolly. sounded good.
