Movies you just Love too much...

Mortal Kombat. I just can't help myself, when the punches start rolling in that movie it brings up all my favorite MK childhood memories of gruesome fatalities.

You know, I bet a really awesome martial arts/fantasy/adventure film could be made from the Mortal Kombat universe if it were treated seriously by Hollywood. There is actually a decent backstory that has tons of potential to be elaborated on and filled out by a talented screenwriter and director, as long as they respect it and take the whole thing seriously.

As for the technical side of things, if they got a good fight choreographer like Yuen Woo-ping (Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, etc.) and did all the fights Hong Kong style then I think that something really good could come out of a film adaptation of these classic games. The key too would be to make it more than just a martial arts movie where two foes square off and then one performs a fatality. Those elements are great in the games, but they need to take some of the cheesier elements out for the film and give it some gravitas. Just because it is in the game doesn't mean that they have to put it in the film.

I still have some movies on vhs kicking around.

not to force nostalgia, i have quite a few laserdiscs that i am proud of. too bad i lost my Poineer LD player in a fire 2 years ago. been looking for a nice used one. the sound on those are unreal.

I own four laserdiscs. I got them at Amoeba records on clearance for like a dollar each. I have The Empire Strikes Back, The Last Temptation of Christ, Boyz N The Hood (criterion), and Shine (criterion). I've actually been wanting to get an LD player for years now because there's a lot of criterion laserdiscs that haven't been re-released by them on DVD. I especially want the Taxi Driver disc. It's my all-time favorite film, and I really want to hear Martin Scorsese's commentary track.

Seen Snatch a lot. I like to think I can speak fluent Pikey. Though I enjoy Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels just as much.

I think Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie NOT the tv show) fits that bill for me, along with Galaxy Quest.

Lucas, Powder, Can't Buy Me Love, Rudy.....any movie about a lovable loser without being a 90's sex comedy. i'm drawn to "loser-tries-and-wins" movies.

Miami Blues...I love everything about this movie, of course I love a lot of movies, but this one seems to fit this thread the best. Fortunately I own it, because I never see it on anywhere.

Saving Silverman...I don't know why I like this ridiculous movie so much, but I'll stop and watch it anytime and at any point in the movie when I'm channel surfing.

Wild Orchid-Mickey Rourke Soft core porn film. The uncut DVD is hard to find and I really don't get the poitnt of the film but it just takes me somewhere. I love this film.

Okay. It's important to understand this organism's life cycle.
It's actually two creatures. The first form hatches from a spore...
a sort of large egg, and attaches itself to its victim. Then it injects
an embryo, detaches and dies. It's essentially a walking sex organ. The --
