Movie Trailer

Wow. I am not in any way a child/family psychologist (or any psychologist), but this is awesome. I agree that parenting skills are critical to the raising of healthy and well-adjusted kids, and I also worry that such skills are very lacking in society at large. It's good to see someone who has the knowledge and dedication to try and highlight these important issues and make a real difference. Much respect.

I want to say something nice, but that trailer made no sense to me. A lot of blinking, eyebrow acting, and forced hand movements to loud music is all I got out of it.

I don't really know what just happened. It's about a Divorce, and a kid stuck in the middle I assume, but nothing in that trailer makes me care or provoke interest in the story, which is what a trailer is supposed to do.

Sorry to come across as a jerk.

jnatalie- first congrats on getting something like this finished, it is more than I have done. I don't know dewey, but I think what he meant is "sorry if YOU take this as me being a jerk". His response was frank, blunt, to the point, not candy coated, but not jerkish in my opinion. I personally didn't get the trailer either. We as filmmakers(if I can call myself that) definitely need to have tough skins. Take what someone says whether jerkish, harsh, or blunt and see why that statement was made. Then learn/grow from it and make the needed changes (if.. well...needed).

The trailer was pretty awful.

The image quality wasn't great, and it didn't make sense at all... I concur with the above statement; A trailer should at the very least entice people to want to see more which this does not.

My assumption is that it is about divorce... ok.. great.. buts thats only because of the papers at the end of the 'trailer'. Realistically the same thing would have been accomplished with 1 or 2 shots of kids and the end shot.. then you'd have a 10 second trailer... but still one that makes about as much sense as this one.

This is not a trailer; in that I mean, it doesn't function as a trailer. It almost feels more like the opening clip to a DVD menu.. just a montage of unrelated imagery.

Dewy's comments come across far less abrasive than mine, but were just both being honest. If you don't like what people think of your work, refrain from posting it.

First of all, the film looks like it might be interesting. However, the trailer...as others have said does not show off the film very well. It should make me want to see this movie NOW! What's the hook? Why should I want to see another movie about a divorce and a kid in the middle? Tell us in your trailer.

I'm positive you've got heaps to work with -- cut another trailer after you've checked out some other trailers. See how they do it. Introduce an idea, a concept, and show us a sneak peak. Not dozens and dozens of shots of people talking inaudibly with music in the background...that tells us nothing.

A trailer should be done like a film. A good film script has nothing in it that doesn't move the story forward. Similar sort of deal with a trailer.

Now, I'm not bashing, and neither were the other guys so don't take offense to this -- I'm not judging your filmmaking, be very clear about that. For all I know you could be the next speilberg, all I am saying is that this trailer is not effective.

That doesn't mean you arn't capable...some people cut 100 trailers before they settle for one that's effective. I suggest you cut a smaller trailer, keep the interest high, have some dialogue in it, just snippets, maybe some text, whatever you feel like doing. Give us a story, not a montage.
