MOVIE TRAILER - BROKEN ($8000 Action Short - 100 Vfx Shots) DVX100a

Hello,

Does the movie have a subtitle feature? Being hearing impaired, I depend on subtitles and will purchase a copy only if it provides it.

Thanks.

Hey, Alex, I'm waiting for the DVD every day (like a rising sun, hehehe!)...I ordered mine almost a month ago, and still haven't got it here...DVD has been shipped to me 6.9. Is this normal shipping time from US to Finland? :undecided

I just got my DVD today. I bought it off Amazon and got a very quick delivery. Very professionally packaged and this DVD is just jam packed with stuff. You guyz went all out in helping and inspiring new filmmakers. Best advice is just go out and do it.

I'd also like to say that i've followed this and a couple of other Broken threads and was always impressed at how professional you all are with your responses. That really earned my respect for you guys and motivated me to buy the DVD as well. I wanted to support you and your work.

Congrats on the Ebert recognition and in all your future projects.

Hey Everyone,

Our guest appearance on "The Screening Room with Jonathan Krane." went AMAZING!!! Mr. Krane (producer of Look Who's Talking, Face/Off, Swordfish) was extremely pleasent, supportive, and overall super cool. Here is a few things he had to say about BROKEN: "Excellent directing, camerawork, music, production design, and very well edited. The production value is truly amazing for $8000. The story is intriging and as a viewer you want to know more. Very nice job, you guys have talent." It was a big thrill for Jorge and I to meet him, to be on the show, and pick his brain a bit. After producing over 45 films he has a little experience. ; ) Check out his IMDB: Jonathan Krane

Here is the info on when the show will air:

Film producer Jonathan Krane is stepping in front of the cameras, signing on to host the new indie film-focused show "The Screening Room" for a high-definition TV station in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The series, which will air on WHDT from 8-10 p.m. Mondays starting Oct. 3, will feature a "watch and discuss" format with either three 20-minute films or a full-length feature, followed by Krane ("Look Who's Talking," "Face/Off") holding discussions with the filmmakers or cast involved in the project. Krane said the show will give the films a chance to reach a wider audience than, for example, just festivalgoers. He added that he intends to ask "hard questions" about how the filmmaker's original vision matches up with the final product and hopes that viewers learn something about moviemaking.

"It's not going to be a typical show where I ask about what it was like working with so-and-so as an actor, but more about the filmmaking process," he said. Krane said his ultimate goal is to start sell the show for national syndication, but he's taking a wait-and-see attitude as to whether he might try to bring in a distributor or sell the show himself.

WHDT, which is operated by MIG Broadcast Group, is co-producing the show. MIG president and CEO Gunter Marksteiner pointed out that the films will be converted to high-definition when necessary and that the shows will be shot just days before their airdate to "keep them current." WHDT is carried on Comcast (Channel 162) and Adelphia (Channel 17) in the West Palm Beach market, and the show will be available to about 2 million viewers when it debuts, Marksteiner said.

He added that the other stations operated by MIG -- WHDN in Boston, WHDT in Miami and WYDT in Naples, Fla. -- will start airing the series in January, increasing its availability to more than 10 million viewers.

How the heck was this a $8000 film when you used a DVX with a wide angle adapter?! That is somthing like $5000-6000 of equipment right there. Not to mention the arsenal of airsoft weapons.

The wide angle adapter cost us $25 a day - $125 total. An the Airsoft guns were purchased for less than $10 a piece. Thanks and good luck with your projects!

Ben,

Please drop me an email with you purchase email from paypal or amazon and I'll check the status. Sorry for the delay.

$10 a piece?!?!?! What sort of amazing, heavenly airsoft retailer was this?! Seriously, I am looking for a pair of berrettas, two uzis, two MP5s, an AK47, and a PSG1. The grand total comes to just that... a grand!

I've shopped around and thought I had found the cheapest prices, but if you have someone you reccomend buying from (ie: for $10 a piece) please, do tell.

I think alot of the guns might have cost that but the featured weapons were probably more. I can't find anything with blowback for less that $20ish though, so yeah I would like to know the answer to that question too :)

This is the deal. We walked into a Airsoft store, told them about the movie, asked if they had any broken guns (we only needed a few working guns), and the guy had a ton of them in the back room. These were $90 guns, looked great but didn't work. We then started to make deals with him. He took a liking to us and allowed us to borrow one of the large guns and we paid about $100 for a used shotgun. The uzis were about $5 each and he had tons of them. They were plastic. We also got 4 broken AKs for about $5 each as well. The two guns with Blowback cost about $30 each new.

That's the story

So are you like keeping them in your own prop shop now or are you selling them to DVXusers for cheeeeeeeeep? :cheesy:

You could do a DVD / Gun bundle for like $30, lol

God, I wish we had these sorts of resources in Canada. The airsoft regulations are so foggy here. You can only import them with a firearms permit, so the people selling them have put a HUGE premium on even the cheaper models.

I'll be spending about $400 CND on two silver berettas with blowback. That, is ok with me, but when it comes to the MP5s and uzis that will see little more than background shots, are about $90... the type of gun that costs $25 in the states.

In addition to that, I have to have a replica firearms permit.
