MOVIE TRAILER - BROKEN ($8000 Action Short - 100 Vfx Shots) DVX100a

Some really good stuff. I was wondering about your audio setup. From the trailer, the audio quality seems really good (when the creepy guy is talking at the beginning especially), and I'm assuming that you didn't just plug a shotgun into your XLR inputs.

Thanks dude. You are an inspiration to DVX users everywhere.

Thanks for the kind words!! We used a location mixer and then pluged the XLR in the DVX100A. The sound was then mixed in Digital Performer for the final output.

Hope that helps!!

Alex,

Your killing me here. Enough with the waiting already, ha ha. When can I get a copy of the short? Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys for the cool words. We are feverishly working on the DVD of BROKEN, which will be available on http://www.whatisbroken.com by the end of June 2005. Many people have been contacting us about buying the full short so we are now in high gear to get it out ASAP. We will have a ton of DVD extras and a bunch of tech talk on how we made BROKEN.

Thanks again for all the support.

make sure you get decent actors because i can tell if this were a full length feature you couldn't sugarcoat with enough effects.

Ok I'm new on the board but not new to photography. The composition in the trailer was not excellent but Outstanding. I will be purchasing 2 DVX100A's this weekend, I'm excited.. can't wait for the Fall release of Panasonic's HVX200 DV camera, it will be out of my price range for 2 cameras anyway.

On the location sound issue, I have a Yamaha 4 track mixer that I used to record musical tracks would that work with the DVX100A?

Also how did you sync both of the cameras for sound?

Thanks for the kind words. The mixer will work as long as you have XLR cables that can go into the camera. We use the audio from the MiniDV tape and have the DAT as back up. You sync it the old fashion way...by eye.

Good Luck,
Alex

Alex,

Most excellent work with BROKEN. Easily one of the most professional looking projects on this site.

I do have a Q tho. How is the development of the feature screenplay coming along? And what is the next process in the development of the feature with regards to outside entities (other production companies)?

Best of luck with your project.

EJ

yo, all this talk, and no mention about your cool website. Who designed it? And how much did it cost? (One of the better movie sites out there, Garden State, cost $50,000 -- it doesn't seem like you have nearly that much money, so do tell).
