Movie of the year?

The Social Network, Toy Story 3, Black Swan, and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World are my favorites of the year thus far. I bet True Grit will round it off to a top five list. Hopefully I'll get to see it soon. Inception was good too, but I wasn't as crazy about it as most people seem to be.

Blue Valentine should be added to this list for both leads (Gosling and Williams). Fantastic film.

Black Swan or Inception for me. But I haven't seen True Grit yet, so that could be a late addition.

Still haven't seen Black Swan or The Social Network, but True Grit was really, really good. The Fighter was too, but I liked True Grit more. Probably more than Inception.

+1 for Inception, The Town and The Social Network.

Of these films, I'd say the Town was the best I personally saw.

Personally for me, The Town was ok, reminded me too much of "Heat". There were way too many similarities and both plots moved along in the same fashion.

Edited:

I just saw Black Swan... Ummmm, no, didn't really care for it. The acting was ok, the whole movie just had a weird vibe for me and didn't really sit well. They did a good job with it, but I definitely think Inception takes the top prize, Social Network was good, I really liked Kick-Ass but I wouldn't put it in the top 5, Scott Pilgrim would be in the top 3 or 4 for me too...

I saw True Grit, enjoyed it. Wouldn't place it at the top of my list. I kept forgetting it came out in 2010 (I kept thinking it was '09, for some reason), but I would actually say Greenberg is my favorite film of the year. And after posting here, I ended up seeing Exit Through The Gift Shop and Tiny Furniture, which were both great. The Social Network came out on DVD this week and I've been watching it about three times a day, every day since Tuesday.

So, top five: Greenberg, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, and Tiny Furniture.

Honorable mentions: Black Swan, Inception, and True Grit.

This is coming from the keyboard of a dad of a two-year-old. I don't get out much.

Enjoyed Inception, but I don't think it's gonna fit as a Best Picture winner. It's a little too mainstream...even for Oscar.

Scott Pilgram might get nom'd for visual effects. Again, I enjoyed this movie, but the plot has been done a thousand times. Love the style...wish there was a story.

Toy Story 3 - meh. I think I'm the only one who didn't cry at the end. Even with a little boy at home, I wasn't "moved" by it. Go ahead, tell me I have no soul.

I haven't seen The King's Speech, but I've heard some rave reviews about it. No one has mentioned it in this thread yet. Not a best of 2010 film? Haven't seen 127 Hours yet, either, but I'm intrigued by it...can't really picture it being a best of, though.

I did see The Kids are Alright. S'Okay. It's plenty liberal enough for Hollywood to notice, but zero chance it'll be in the Best Pictures Noms. Probably Actress or Supporting.

Animal Kingdom is being recognized as a 2010 film, from what I've seen. Possibly Indie winner?

I still have a lot of movies to catch up on.

2010 was a great year for movies huh?

I thought Inception was all around amazing. (story, acting, effects etc)
From a cinematography standpoint Black Swan was amazing, although the story was a bit predictable.
Exit Through the Gift Shop was a great documentary. Collapse is another great documentary.

If you missed The King's Speech...don't. I was hesitant to go see it because it just seemed .... blah to me. It's not! I actually laughed more than I do at a lot of comedies and Geoffrey Rush is great. Firth seems to be getting the accolades, and he's spot on, but for my money Rush gave the film a completely different feel than it otherwise would have had.

King's Speech was very well done. Watched City Island tonight, excellent film as well. Among two of my favorites of the year.
