.mov versus pro-res

Question regarding quality of video. I know a lot of people use mpeg streamclip or magic bullet grinder to convert their .mov files to something more edit-friendly.

Is the quality of video really noticable between the 2 formats or is it just for ease of use?

Thanks.

.mov is just a container, the Pro Res files will also be .mov. The quality will be the same but you will have less issues when it comes to editing.
