Hello Jim and all the hard working people on the RED team!
I just want to point something out - better earlier than later. You may listen or you may not, obviously. I know it depends on so many different things but I feel it is my duty to suggest something:
It seems now that there will be different mounts (removable) for different lenses. My suggestion is to design the camera in front so that you leave the maximum of space from the mount to the sensor itself, so that we can fit a variety of old lenses on the RED camera.
I am specifically talking about old non-reflex lenses, like the Cooke Speed Panchro or the Baltar series, and (especially at the wide end) sometimes there are only a few milimeters between the rear element of the lens and the film plane (sensor in this case). Since the RED will not have a mechanical shutter, this seems feasable.
Personally, I would love to use old BNCR lenses for the aesthetics, but nevertheless, many users may only afford old 35mm lenses. Designing the camera to accept non-reflex lenses may be a smart move and make the system more affordable as well.
Good luck with the project!
