What about Mark Hamill? After Star Wars he never got a chance, but he's a genuinely nice guy and a decent actor. Comic Book The Movie was great fun! (No need to mention things like Corvette Summer, The Guyver, or Slipstream. I blame those roles on him being underrated, and not a bad actor.)

Underrated (at least by the industry imo)...
(*) Samuel L Jackson (So many great "supporting" roles but the "starring" roles have been very narrow imo. QT seems to respect him a great deal however)
(*) John Malkovich (May be caused by his own dislike for the machine)
(*) Matthew McConaughey (Looks, humor and skills but Affleck still reigns?)

I'm okay with Brad Pitt, not one of my favorites, although Twelve Monkeys was great. His character just seemed like a cross between DiCaprio in Gilbert Grape and the Dell PC spokes guy who got busted for drugs. Musta been something with the funky finger movements of his hands. :)

What the hell is "Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasures of the Lost Abyss"? Is that the sequel title? The original was "The Curse of the Black Pearl".

regardless of overrated and underrated they're all making shitloads of money.....must be nice.

I cant stand brad pitt, although I loved fight club, oceans, and snatch.

Kevin spacey is AWESOME. He is very underrated. He was awesome in American Beauty. (i think i'm going to rent that movie again...loved that one.)

Over rated- Orlando bloom. I like some of his acting roles- but he's way over rated in my opinion.

under rated- Viggo Mortensen. I dont even have to say anything, just look.

So, I took the sequel title.

There are so much differences between original titles and how they are translated in french...

I've got a friend that guest starred on an episode of law and order with D'Onofrio...based on what she experienced on set, she had not one good thing to say about his work ethic or technique.

I've always been impressed with his acting, but I hear he's much more trouble to work with then he's worth.

That being said, I know a rather well-known acting teacher that uses Vincent D'Onofrio's guest-starring episode of Homocide as a teaching tool because it's such a powerhouse performance.

One of the most underrated actors of our time is Billy Crudup. If you haven't seen "Jesus's Son" then you are really missing out. (Keeping in mind that I don't dig the majority of Big Budget hollywood films).

Jeff Bridges is so damn f*cking funny in The Big Labowski. God I love that film, and 90% of the reason why is because of "The Dude".

Well im a big Fan of Micheal Biehn. When he gets hold of the right lines, he´s amazing.

One other actor thats really good is Jason Isaacs. I never understood until later that he was the same guy in both Black Hawk Down and Armageddon.

I'm going to bring up Kevin Spacey again. I was just watching Goldmember, and I had forgotten he was in it. The man is hilarious!

I don't really think an actor is overrated or underrated persay...

Some actors have really big public personas, the keyword being public... the fact of the matter is, a statement like, "Bradd Pitt sucks cause he got popular to fast" or "Russell Crowe is a jerk" are just plain stupid.

Unless you have actually spent a considerable amount of time with that person you have no bloody idea what they are like as a person.. your basing that opinion off a publis persona..there ego basically...

but I will go along with this and say that, Tom Cruise I don't think gets respect as an actor... it seems he is only respected as a personality.

Cruise is a phenomenal actor that is passed by time and again by awards. Which stinks.. but hey what can you do.

UNDERRATED and TOP ACTORS:
* Russel Crowe - Awesome in Beautiful Mind, Insider and Gladiator
* Mel Gibson - Awesome in Mad Max, Payback, Maverick Bravehart and Patriot - Good Directing for the Passion of Christ
* Jim Caviziel - Now how good did he act in the Passions of Christ - Just Awesome, and also learning another language.
* Al Pacino - Awesome in Godfather, Scarface and DEFINETLY in HEAT, the acting between him and DeNiro, just AWESOME. Although his later movies arent that great same goes for DeNiro.
* Leonardo Dicaprio - Good in Titanic, fantastic in Catch Me if You Can.
* Denzel Washington - Just makes it in, as he always plays the same character in his movies, or basically acts the same. But makes a good screen presence.
* Sean Penn - Awesome in I Am Sam and Mystic River, still not as good as Russel Crowe.
* Johnny Depp - Fantastic at doing multiple characters - Edward Scissor Hands through to Pirates of the Carribean to Secret Window to Blow and Donnie Brasco.
* Edward Norton - Man this guy is good - Fight Club, American History X, 25th Hour, Rounders and the Score.
* Tom Cruise - This guy just keeps coming out with top movies from different Genres except for Vanilla Sky of course.
* Sean Bean - Another good actor - Lord of the Rings and Troy.
* Christopher Walken - Huh, this guy is tops as Serious and Comedy roles. He holds a true screen presence.
* Jean Reno - Awesome in Ronin and Leon.
* Hugh Jackman - Good in XMEN, Van Helsing but AWESOME in Sword Fish
* Christian Slater - Good in Broken Arrow, Very Bad Things and Hard Rain
* Tim Robbins - Shawshank Redemption, Mystic River and Antitrust.
* Tom Hanks - Big, Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me if you Can, Road to Perdition, Forrest Hump and Philadelphia.

OVERRATED:
* Brad Pitt - He ruined Troy, he should stick to Comedies such as Snatch.
* Halle Berry - Man she is a crap actor.
* Angelina Jolie - Same goes for her.
* Nicole Kidman - Boring as hell.
* John Travolta - This guy just makes one crap movie after another, except for Swordfish. He just bores me to death.
*Cameron Diaz - Crap in all movies - C'mon Charlies Angels - How bad are those movies, ahhhhhhh.

AVERAGE: This category is for good actors for what they do best.
* Sylvestor Stallone - This guy is the Action MAN. How good is RAMBO 1, Rocky's 1 to 4 and Lockup. I could watch these movies over and over again.
* Arnold Schwarzenneger - Same as Sylvestor. Man their is no better MANLY movie than PREDATOR. This is one kick a$# movie.
* The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) - I think this guy is pretty good, only with action films though, I could really see this guy being the next Arnold if he plays his cards right. Loved him in the Scorpion King and Welcome to the Jungle.
* Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock - These guys are kings of their classic comedies. Beverly Hills Cop etc.
* Al Pacino and DeNiro - These guys come into this section as well. Man they are good but should only stick to Gangster Movies - Although Pacino is the best actor at acting when MAD/ANGRY.
