Greatly looking forward to this. Can't wait til people on the boards start hearing more about it.. and how it was made. =]

Does anyone find it odd that, in a world in which there are aircraft-downing, truck-throwing giant spider things ravaging through infected zones, people still want to vacation in Cozumel?

Should be better than Battleship, at least.

I've been following this since I heard about the buzz it was getting in the festivals. If the claims about the budget are true and it kicks ass.... It will be an awesome development for the independent filmmaker.

Although I hear they are marketing it as one thing (Monsters) but it is really more of a love story. Can't wait to check it out though.

souns like a Twilight Wannabe to me :)

Whatever it is , the poster is great I'd watch it !
Reminds me of Halve Life .

Looks like a blatant District 9 remake - the monster logo is very much like the prawns.

Trailer looks interesting. Don't know about the story though. The website is very district-9ish.

Edit: Slash film stated it was shot for a fraction of a million dollars. Some accounts say 15K. By the look of the trailer I can't see this being done for 15K. But he is a master of Photoshop and AE so you never know these days.

He did it cheaply, and on his own by the sound of it. Watch the budget video.
From what I hear this is nothing like District 9. I do see the similarities though. Especially the signs and whatnot. Still, I hear it's less action and more of a love story.

This does look awesome. But it's no secret how to make a movie on low budget. You just don't pay anybody. I do have some doubts about the $15K number but Central America is somewhat cheaper than the states, so...

This looks a heck of a lot more interesting than District 9. And maybe better implemented.

From what I read, the movie is actually telling a story of human interaction that happens to be set in this post-apocalyptic (and pretty fantastic looking, at least within the BTS video) world the characters are thrust into.

So, lots of person-to-person interplay with a short order of well-executed VFX shots? Boy meets girl, girl dislikes boy, boy and girl become dependent on each other when hostile aliens threaten their lives, girl warms up to boy, boy is eaten alive and pooped out by T-Rex. You know, that old chestnut.

Sounds strangely like a Will Ferrell vehicle, really.

New trailer. Not much different than the last one, except for some magic shrooms.

The big shot at the pyramid, you figure he prob shot that in the daylight and made it night in post? Maybe even added the people later? There's clearly no possible way he got a light up there...for under $15K...

Hard to say. After seeing his past SFX work I wouldn't put anything past him. Probably done in post, shot in daylight would be my guess. The guy is seriously talented.
