Just me or are those numbers insanely close?!
Any MOD care to comment about that. I am just curious what that would equate to in terms of actual votes/stars. It seems to me that even one more person ranking a film 1 star and another 10 stars would have changed the outcome.
it was a very competitive race.
One person, however would not have made enough of a difference, even in the extreme example you have cited. there are enough people voting. Never mind someone doing that would be pretty easily spotted as fraudulent. It's one thing that most everyone gives themselves a 10. It's entirely another to undervalue the competition by giving them all a 1.
This was the closest race we've had I think for the top spots. But, the voter turnout was strong.... and games are won by inches. Nothing really one can do about that. Just means there was a lot of variety in this fest that appealed to a wide range of viewers. Personally, I score that as a win for the fest.
Think about the fact that there was an average of over 2,000 downloads per film this fest and that starts to put things in perspective a bit in terms of how miniscule one person's rating is likely to be the majority of the time.
Difference between 2nd and 3rd wasn't all that close really. 3rd and 4th, however. That was anybody's game.
The 2nd round... things really start to settle and get solidified. During the first round, there is still too much movement in a tight race. Once you get into the 2nd round, the amount of movement gets less and less and there becomes a lot more solidification in the resulting rankings. In general.
Also, it is good that we continue to try to move towards two sets of results. For this fest, we may in fact have 3 sets of results.
