ANDREW ROSE (TEXAS BLOODBATH Founder / Festival Director)
The Texas Blood Bath Film Festival is an independent horror film festival held November 13th-15th 2009 just north of Waco, Texas.

The Texas Blood Bath Film Festival seeks independent filmmakers who share a common vision to produce horror films that are original, creative, and technically superb and to give them a venue to show their film to horror fans who's attention is directly solely at the film festival and not long lines to get celebrity autographs. Texas Blood Bath will honor the filmmaker and the fan, first and foremost, in every decision made.

The Texas Blood Bath Film Festival Board of Directors is made up of Andrew Rose, Parrish Randall, Amanda Slaughter, and Maegan Booth. Each of these directors brings with them a love of independent horror cinema and a strong desire to provide a venue for horror filmmakers and horror fans to gather and watch horror not found in the mainstream cinema market today.

The Texas Blood Bath Film Festival judges for 2009 include Anthony Brownrigg, Brian Harris, Alan Rowe Kelly, and Eve Blaack. Anthony Brownrigg and Alan Rowe Kelly are independent horror filmmakers (writers, directors, producers, and actors), while Brian Harris and Eve Blaack are film reviewers/critics and each has written hundreds of reviews for their chosen medium -- Wildsidecinema.com (Brian) and The Hacker's Source (Eve).

Half of all proceeds from The Texas Blood Bath Film Festival will be given to local and national charities.

DEVI SNIVELY (writer/directrix)

DEVI SNIVELY (writer/directrix)

 DEVI SNIVELY (writer/directrix)
With film titles such as Teenage Bikini Vampire and Confederate Zombie Massacre! it’s no wonder writer/directrix Devi Snively’s signature “romantic musical horror comedy” genre has been likened to everything from the silent classics of Buster Keaton to EC Comics to Tim Burton and beyond. With Death In Charge she continues to explore themes of life and death with playful irony.

Devi (pronounced DAY-vee) is an adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame where she teaches her always over- enrolled course “Cultures of Fear: Anthropological Perspectives of the Horror Film,” the impetus for her upcoming book. She has worked professionally as a ballerina, Spanish translator, hair model, book editor, video game writer, documentary filmmaker, newspaper columnist and video editor. She’s been decidedly unprofessional in several other careers. In 2007 she was selected as one of 8 participants to the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop For Women (DWW). To date she’s written multiple feature-length screenplays, directed 9 short films and a feature-length documentary, and has just finished shooting her first feature-length narrative, trippin’. Her last 3 short films have been officially selected to screen at over 100 festivals worldwide and garnered numerous awards and critical acclaim: “Please, please, someone give this (wo)man a gob of money to make a feature!!”

~ SpookyDan, Bloody-Disgusting.com
“If schlock cinema needs a queen, then bow down to Devi Snively, may her reign be strong.”
~ Tex Massacre, Hacker’s Source Magazine
“Devi Snively is probably one of the most recognizable horror directors in that her films have a very distinct look and feel; somewhere between early silent films and rock videos.”
~ Heidi Martinuzzi, Film Threat / Pretty-Scary.net

BC (reviewer/blogger BLOODY DISGUSTING & HORROR-MOVIE-A-DAY, Editor, Some Guy)

BC (reviewer/blogger BLOODY DISGUSTING & HORROR-MOVIE-A-DAY, Editor, Some Guy)

*note from JDS: BC is an enigma. There is no "bio" as such online. I do know his real (full) name but I'm not telling. Suffice it to say he's a deft contributor to BLOODY DISGUSTING, runs / is the site HORROR MOVIE A DAY and watches at least, well, one horror movie a day. Here's an excerpt from the H-M-a-D FAQ:

1. WHO ARE YOU?

I dunno, some guy. I love horror movies. Who cares? I will say I am kind of a wiseass and I have an odd sense of humor. I also tend to go off on tangents, and tangents on tangents. When you read these things, just imagine a guy at a bar next to you who’s had a few too many and doesn’t realize you’re not interested. But if you must know, my name is Brian, and I work as an editor of sorts out in Los Angeles.

...

3. DO YOU REALLY WATCH A MOVIE EVERY DAY?

Yes! In fact, writing a review for each movie was something I came up with after about a month or so of daily movie watching. I don't just review a film a day, nor do I watch a few movies over the weekend and spread the reviews out over the week. Every day, at some point between 12:01 AM and 11:59 PM, I at least start a horror movie (sometimes I have to go see a movie that starts at 11 PM, obviously it wont be done until after 12). No exceptions, no cheating!

*here's some press quotes from his website, which I am too lazy to transcribe by hand:

FRIGHT NIGHT FILM FEST:
Fright Night Film Fest is the largest genre show in the Mid South. Our festival has risen to prominence and has attracted worldwide attention. Jack really kicked ass with this and took the bull by the horns. We're gonna have some "non-traditional" prizes this time such as this stuff Jack has done, hopefully some cash prize(s) and of course some gear as well... but, doing things a bit differently.

later,
Jason

Jack absolutely rocked this. Thanks so much JDS for taking these extra steps to have our DVXFest filmmakers seen by an audience of festival directors!
