I got a Macbook to use as dedicated monitor for the 170. I don't have Premier, so Onlocation is out. Any suggestions?
Also, I am getting started with Final Cut Express and am using P2 Content Manager. I get most of the process except: Do I import to Final Cut from P2CM or the other way around? Am I just being dumb using P2CM? Thanks in advance for your patience with a greenhorn.

That is a very good rundown of the capabilities of the two programs. Apple has agreed to apply the cost of FCE to FCP. It's the people who sold me the camera that have me frying to get this P2CM thing working.
Any insight on the monitor issue? Will FCP solve that too. Thx again.
 
If this is a new MacBook, it doesn't have a FW port, so it cannot be used to monitor video with HD Monitor, Scopebox, or similar programs.
