Anyone viewing his or her material in 4K resolution?
I want to add a third monitor to my setup. Resolve 12 with Infinity pro 4K card.
Any suggestions for a not too expensive 4K monitor or television?

When can we edit/change the headers? It must be television of course.

I'm using a seiki 39' I got for $300 which is not bad for the price but the lag is not great as a monitor. Nice for watching 4k content on though, and amazing real estate as a monitor if you can get used to the lag and 30hz.cant say I'd recommend it unless you want to spend very little or are only viewing video on it. Anything else in the price range or twice the price is a TN panel with bad color.

Get a real monitor that you can calibrate not a TV.

Dell have some very affordable 4K monitors. Their UP3216Q looks quite reasonable for the money $1800 or their 5K one for $2200.

They do make the new iMac with 5k P3 gamut screen look even more amazing value.

I view television programms on a television, that is the reason I want a television (next to the monitors I allready have). I can't force my clients that pay for 4K footage to buy a monitor. They also have 4K television sets for viewing.

I'm using the LG 31MU95 which supports 10 bit color and 4K as opposed to UHD. Other than the backlight bleed and poor black levels, the color gamut is good and for daylight scenes it produces good images.

I agree on both going with a monitor, and the brand choice. Dell makes competitively priced quality monitors in this price range. BenQ would be my second choice.

I am currently struggling with a choice of 2.5k and wider color gamut, or 4k with acceptable color. I feel like I really need the screen real estate at this point. I do design as well so more space is always welcome :)

LG now has some large OLED 4K monitors that are quite impressive and reasonably priced. At least what I would consider reasonable for what you get.

if don't need it urgently for a production waiting some months could pay off. Every month the prices go down, you get more choice and better features.. I will have a close look at the LG31MU97Z .. soon ;-)

I was in the shop and didn't buy anything. The cheaper LG was less sharp compared with samsung. Prices will drop after xmass and Sinterklaas (in the Netherlands). And new models coming in march, then further price drop.

But I still think that lots of clients use television sets for fairs and not (more expensive) monitors. So for that purpose television is better I think.

I have absolutely no idea what these sentences actually mean? Who said anything about forcing your clients to buy a monitor?

TV programmes and Ads are finished on calibrated monitors, the client signs off on the project after watching the playback through a calibrated screen not on a consumer TV even though that's where the audience will view the programme.

Hi Nirv, When I re-read it I don't know either. :-) But bottom line: I don't want a calibrated screen, I already have access to one. I want a big fat 4K monitor/television for viewing.

I like the Dells, I have a smaller one in my setup, but for 550 euro I can buy a Samsung 43 inch 4K television. So 1800 dollar for a 32 inch monitor is a bit to much for me.
I will use the monitor/tv via the Davinci Infinity pro 4K card with resolve. Big screen is nice because all faults, unsharp images, bad transitions are magnified.
The other two computer monitors in my setup are for timeline and (light) color correction.

LG 31MU97 is 4K. If you can live with the backlight bleed and a real contrast of about 700:1, it's actually pretty decent with accurate colors and intense saturated colors. I use one here.

It has been confirmed that OS X El Capital supports 10 bit and the new iMac 27" has a 10 bit P3 5K display. Applications need to be written to support 10 bit output but I thought this was an interesting development that Apple hasn't made anything of.

A 27" 5K panel 18" from your eyeballs is a pretty good option.

Frankly that sounds perfectly horrible.
