GH2 Monitor only for framing/focus but what about colors?

Hello!

I am looking for the right monitor for my GH2 kit. I used my friends ikan v5600 (5 inch i think) and it worked well for focusing/framing but the colors were completely off. On the shoot I was not able to calibrate the colors right but I had the feeling i could not match the colors at all.

So I looked at all the different monitors and my question is: What monitor is the best to really have good colors?

I dont need to have a 100% accurate picture but I do want to adjust brightness/color temperature etc. on the monitor without looking at the GH2-LCD.

The SmallHD and Marshall monitors seem to be good (is it because of the high resolution?) but it seems a bit pricey. Since so many people use the Liliput Monitors... How are the colors? Or do most of you guys just use the Monitor for framing/focusing only?

thanks!

So did the Ikan match your GH2?
Well, I made a thread regarding calibrating the SmallHD DP6. It's a science by itself I tell ya.

Don't get the Lilliput for colors. It's pretty bad. It's ok for focusing, but it's not great. I'm thinking about selling mine.

I own a 7 inch Liliput monitor which I do use with my GH-2, and it really is only useful for framing and focusing. The color and contrast from this monitor is horrible.

There really is no option around buying a more expensive monitor if you want to judge color with it, and even these are not perfect when it comes to judging color, which is why I spent a $1,000 on buying a Sekonic color meter, which has proved to be very useful in obtaining accurate color balance when shooting. ( I still tweak things in post, but the color meter gets me very close to what I want, in camera )
