C100: Monitor for C100

I'm looking for suggestions for an external monitor for my C100.
The SmallHD AC7 LCD is looking like the best option and is about the price point (700USD) I would like to go to. Any others I should consider?
Requirements in order of priority:
Focusing confidence
Portability
Colour accuracy

If I have a HDMI monitor connected, will audio still play back from the camera's speaker when in media playback mode?

I'm not sure about that last question, but I'm in the same boat as you - ready to pull the trigger but just can't decide. You may get some responses saying to search the forum because this is discussed over and over, but oh well!

Here are a couple others that I'm considering along with the AC7:
ikan VK7i
Marshall V-LCD70MD

Both pretty similar, Marshall is brighter, but ikan has a slightly higher resolution...

Apparently the Ninja Blade has an excellent monitor plus you have the option for recording if the need ever arises. However, its not 7" (5" I think).

Got my Ninja blade recently. Use it as a monitor without the recording function sometimes. So sharp and bright.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Ikan does look like good value, especially when you factor in the cost of a battery plate. It's hard to see what the SmallHD has over it for the price difference. Reviews also sound promising for the colour accuracy of the Ikan whereas there are lots of complaints about the SmallHD

Ninja Blade does look nice but I'm not sure I can justify the extra cost the the recording feature which is unlikely to see much if any use.

Own the AC7 and Ninja Blade - If I did this all again and only needed a monitor, I would try the Ikan. For the price it seems like a great deal. Love the Blade though.

Hope it's better than my Ikan VX9e. The VX9e is ok for framing...not much more.

A friend of mine had the AC7 and didnt like the color at all. I saw it at NAB and it looked nice. If you can wait the Atomos Shogun is 7" and can be calibrated with a Spyder. It also is a SDI and HDMI 4K recorder. All that for $2K This is an amazing price for a feature rich monitor/recorder. Check it out at Atomos website

I own the VX7i and Ninja Blade. The Blade lives on the camera - colors and brightness are more true to my reference monitor, and I also feel 7 inches is just too large to be on a small camera like the C100.

The Vx7i lacks a bit in the blues and purples, especially noticeable if you run bars. I keep it around for the AC or Director and the image looks great on it, terrific for focusing. But the Blade is more true. Also can do LUTs, waveform, and vectorscope which make it a no brainer in my opinion. Focusing is easy with peaking when you need it.

I regularly hang the SmallHD AC7 OLED off of my C100. That monitor is approaching 8", but it is so light that it really isn't a problem. What I like about that monitor is that it actually makes me feel like I am viewing the actual image rather than an approximation. I think it is well worth the extra money.
