monitor and T3i

It will drop resolution to 480 when recording - painful in my opinion.

I prefer to use these cameras without external monitors. If monitors are required for any reason, the 7D is the only acceptable choice.
 
Monitors pulls your resolution? How about on the HVX200? I'm going to be using a monitor on that setup so I can pull focus and block the shot.
 
I go HDMI out to a Marshall 7"- looks fine and more than enough for exposure/focus eval.

This question and answer is camera specific and only applicable to single processor Canon HDSLRs.

HVX200 is limited to component HD out (vs. HDMI). But it's full HD res so fine for focus and blocking.
